Huskers Set PRs at Nebraska Mini Meet

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska track and field team competed in its first home outdoor meet of the season at the Nebraska Mini Meet on Wednesday. The Huskers saw numerous personal-bests set during the meet.

The Huskers went first, second and third in the men's long jump as Chris Phipps recorded a first-place season-best jump of 25-4 3/4 (7.74). Bobby Carter came in second with a personal-best leap of 25-2 3/4 (7.69) and Travis Englund finished third with a personal-best mark of 23-8 (7.21).

Kara Mostoller finished with the women's long jump title, recording a personal-best jump of 19-1 1/4 (5.82). Jordan Stiens followed her in second place with a personal-best leap of 18-10 3/4 (5.76).

Rashad Moxey finished first in the men's triple jump, recording a personal-best leap of 47-5 (14.45), while Corey Winston finished second with a jump of 47-0 1/4 (14.33). Devandrew Johnson took third with a jump of 46-6 1/4 (14.18), and Travis Englund finished fourth with a mark of 44-5 1/2 (13.55).

Anna Weigandt took first in the women's triple jump, notching a personal-best leap of 42-2 (12.90). Ellie Ewere posted a personal-best jump of 41-5 3/4 (12.64), and Rachel Butler finished with a mark of 38-9 3/4 (11.83).

In the women's high jump, Marusa Cernjul finished with the event title, posting a jump of 5-8 1/2 (1.74). Jillanna Scanlan posted a second-place jump of 5-7 (1.70). Stiens finished with a personal-best jump of 5-3 (1.60).  

Carlos Hernandez won the men's high jump with a leap of 6-9 3/4 (2.08). Travis Englund finished third with a jump of 6-4 3/4 (1.95). Bjorn Barrefors finished with a mark of 6-4 3/4 (1.95) and Teran Walford posted a jump of 6-0 3/4 (1.85).

In the pole vault Cami Jiskra posted a season-high vault of 13-3 (4.04). Brenna Bussel also recorded a jump of 13-3 (4.04). Maggie Maher finished with a personal-best vault of 12-7 1/4 (3.84). Barrefors posted a season-best pole vault of 16-6 (5.03), while Craig Driver also finished with a mark of 16-6 (5.03).

Carter Wasem finished first in the men's hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 187-9 (57.22). Matt Giesselmann finished second with a season-best throw of 176-6 (53.79). Cole Ingram finished fourth with a season-best throw of 172-5 (52.55), while Jacob Griess took fifth with a season-best throw of 171-11 (52.41).

Carlie Pinkelman finished second in the women's hammer throw, notching a personal-best mark of 171-9 (52.34). Mary Morales came in third with a throw of 166-8 (50.81).  

Taylor Shapland finished first in the men's shot put, recording a personal-best throw of 54-5 1/2 (16.60).

Landon Nelson posted a personal-best throw of 179-0 to finish first in the javelin, and Walford took second with a personal-best throw of 164-5 (50.12).

John Welk finished first in the men's 100 meters, recording a season-best time of 10.75. Nebraska swept the top three spots in the women's 200 meters, with Mara Weekes taking first with a time of 24.05. Monique Lewis came in second, recording a personal-best time of 24.71, while Breunna McCarty finished third with a time of 25.73.

Dexter McKenzie and Tim Thompson finished second and third in the men's 200 meters. McKenzie posted a personal-best time of 21.02, while Thompson notched a personal-best time of 21.12.

The Huskers finished first and second in the women's 100 meter hurdles. Mila Andric posted a personal-best time of 13.72 for first-place, while Greta Kerekes took second with a time of 14.36. Andric took first in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.26. Ellie Grooters took second with a time of 1:02.05, while Rachel Butler took third with a time of 1:03.09. Jodi-Rae Blackwood recorded a personal-best time of 51.47 in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
