2011 (Junior)
Matt Giesselmann (pronounced GEE-sel-man) competed in six meets during the indoor track and field season... capped the season with a personal-best mark of 59-10 1/4 in the weight throw at the 2011 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships to finish seventh and earn All-Big 12 honors... finished fifth at the Texas A&M Challenge with another mark of 59-10 1/4 in the weight throw... competed in six meets during the outdoor track and field season... finished seventh at the 2011 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 186-11, to take home All-Big 12 accolades in the event... took third at the Nebraska Open with a hammer throw of 184-11.

2010 (Sophomore)
Giesselmann bettered his previous best of 58-0 1/4 in the weight throw at the Nebraska Tune-Up with a toss of 58-2... threw at the Big 12 Indoor Championships for the second straight year and finished ninth (57-8 1/4)... shattered his hammer throw best of 172-0 by over 10 feet at the GPAC Last Chance with a mark of 182-10... finished 10th at the conference outdoor meet with a throw of 179-2.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Giesselmann earned his first Big 12 medal in 2009 with a seventh-place finish (56-9 1/2) in the weight throw at the Big 12 Indoor Championships... came into the year with a best of 48-4 1/2, which he improved at the first four meets of the indoor season... started with a toss of 52-1 at the Holiday Inn Invitational and then continued to improve with marks of 55-3 3/4 (NWU Invitational), 55-9 3/4 (adidas Classic) and 56-10 (Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational)... broke his personal best one final time at the Nebraska Tune-Up with a toss of 58-0 1/4... opened the outdoor season by shattering his previous hammer throw best of 149-4 with a toss of 172-0 at the Stanford Invitational... went on to compete in five more meets, throwing 162 feet or more at every meet.

2008 (Freshman)
Giesselman redshirted his first season and competed at five meets during the indoor season... ended the indoor season at the Nebraska Last Chance with a throw of 48-4 1/2... competed in the hammer at both of Nebraska's home meets as an unattached athlete during the outdoor season... threw a season-best 149-4 in the hammer at the Nebraska Open.

 

Before Nebraska (Fremont HS)
Giesselmann competed in the shot and discus during his prep career at Fremont High School under coaches Dave Sellon and Jon Appleget... recorded personal bests of 49-0 in the shot and 157-2 in the discus... finished fourth in the 2007 Nebraska Class A 189-pound weight class at the state wrestling tournament.
