Chris Phipps added to his All-America total in 2012, earning three more honors to become a seven-time All-American at Nebraska... Won his first conference title at the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, finishing with a long jump of 25-4 1/2 for first... finished third in the triple jump at the indoor conference championships, posting a leap of 51-0 1/4... he helped the 4x100 meter relay team to a third-place finish at the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a time of 39.75, also finished second in both the long jump (25-5 1/4) and the triple jump (52-4 3/4)... earned indoor first-team All-Big Ten honors and outdoor second-team All-Big Ten accolades as a senior... set an outdoor personal best of 53-1 1/2 in the triple jump at the Sun Angel Classic on April 7... was named the Big Ten Outdoor Co-Field Athlete of the Week on April 4 after finishing first in the long jump (25-4 1/2) at the Arkansas Spring Invitational... claimed the triple jump title at the Iowa State Qualifier with a mark of 51-2 1/4... was honored as one of 24 Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners in the Big Ten Conference.

Phipps continued to grow into one of the top horizontal jumpers in the country during his sophomore campaign with three All-Big 12 honors and All-America honors outdoors in the long jump... topped 25 feet in the long jump at both the Big 12 Indoor Championships (25-0) and ISU Last Chance (25-2 1/2)... took fifth in the long jump at the indoor conference meet... broke his indoor previous best of 51-6 1/2 in the triple jump at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a mark of 51-11 3/4, which provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Indoor Championships... took eighth in the triple jump (50-8 3/4) at the indoor conference meet... opened the outdoor season by breaking his previous best of 25-0 3/4 in the long jump with a leap of 25-4 3/4 at the Jim Click Shootout... took third in the triple jump at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a personal-best jump of 52-6... bettered his mark in the long jump by nearly a foot at the NCAA West Regional with a leap of 26-3 1/2, becoming just the fifth Husker in school history to pass 26 feet... earned his second career All-America honor at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a fifth-place jump of 25-4 1/2 in Eugene, Ore... went on to compete at the USA Championships where he took third in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 26-7 3/4, the third-best performance all-time at Nebraska... finished the season as a member of Team USA at the NACAC Under-23 Championships... took second in the long jump (25-8) by three-quarters of an inch to fellow American and Florida Gator, Christian Taylor (25-8).
