Huskers Win Good Life Relays

The Nebraska swim team captured the first cup of the Nebraska Good Life Relays with a total team score of 118. Nebraska-Omaha came in second with 97 points, Nebraska Wesleyan following in third with 60 and College of Saint Mary’s with 42 points for fourth place. 

The men’s teams had Omaha in first with a total of 137 points and Wesleyan following with 90 points. 

Leading the competition at the relays was a dominant group of Virginia Consiglio, Amelia Riggott, Beatrix Tanko and Natalie Dunaway. The 200 medley team reached a first-place position in a time of 1:42.87. Following on the podium were Mylie Bradley, Dominka Borkowska, Jenna Brown and Georgia Holgate, who took third (1:53:69). Following in fifth place were Sophie Kissuk, Katy Zboinski, Jenna Gogel and Alaria Hadford, who achieved a time of 1:55:69.

Nebraska stole the show in the 3x100 fly relay. The first group for Nebraska contained Jazmyn Lunn, Meredith Peyton and Aurora Zanin, who hit a time of 2:51.23 and placed first. Shortly behind them in third, Marissa Laurin, Alaira Hadford and Riley Miklos posted a time of 2:58.93.

Consiglio, Holgate and Kissuk secured another first-place finish for Big Red in the 3x100 backstroke relay with a time of 2:51.82, beating out seven different teams in the heat.

NU continued its momentum into the 3x100 breast relay with Riggott and Gogel leading the charge. Zboinski anchored for NU and achieved a second-place finish in 3:18.83.

Aurora Zanin, Tanko, Alaria Hadford and Kissuk secured a first-place finish in the 800-meter free relay in 7:37.99. Claire Parsons, Brown, Lunn and Miklos finished behind them in second place with a time of 7:38.71.

The Big Red finished first and third in the 400 medley relay, with Laurin, Borkowska, Tanko and Parsons accomplishing a time of 3:47.26. Following in third place was a team that consisted of Peyton, Bradley, Holgate and Consiglio, finishing with a time of 3:58.87, right behind Omaha.

Nebraska led off with Dunaway to start the 200 free relay, followed by Miklos and Peyton. Senior Riggott anchored the team, helping to secure a first-place finish with a time of 1:36.76.

During the 400-IM relay, Nebraska secured a first-place finish with a quad of Laurin, Borkowska, Gogel and Zboinski with a 4:03.19. 

Nebraska capped Friday’s events with a first- and third-place finish in the 400 free relay. The Nebraska team that finished first was composed of Tanko, Parsons, Dunaway and Miklos, who finished with a time of 3:31.35. Not far behind were Brown, Bradley, Lunn and Zanin, finishing with a time of 3:38.78.

The Huskers will resume action tomorrow morning at 10:30 at the Devaney Natatorium in Lincoln, Neb. for the annual Intrasquad meet. The event can be streamed on the Huskers YouTube channel and followed on SwimCloud for live updates.
