Sophomore (2024-25)
Beatrix Tanko’s second season at Nebraska was highlighted by outstanding individual and relay performance at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Throughout the season, she produced 19 top-10 finishes, seven individual titles and four career bests.

The sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, competed exceptionally well in the 100 butterfly all season long. She captured four individual titles in the event. At the Hawkeye Invitational in mid-November, Tanko showcased her skills through personal and team efforts. She won the 100 butterfly (53.46), after taking fourth in the 100 free (22.72) and fifth in a then-career-best 49.59 in the 100 free. Tanko also helped contribute to a third-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:30.71) and a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:39.86).

Tanko closed out her season at the Big Ten Championships by securing three finals appearances and two school records. She raced to a career-best 52.77 in the 100 fly prelims, while clocking a career-best 22.47 in the 50 free. In the 100 free, Tanko secured a career-best 49.53 on her way to a 22nd-place finish. She also contributed to a pair of school-record relays at the Big Ten meet, including the 800 free relay (7:07.35) and the 200 free relay (1:29.97).

Following the collegiate season, Tanko captured a gold in the 50-meter butterfly and silver medals in the 100 fly and 50-meter free at the 2025 Hungarian National Championships (April 10-12).

Freshman (2023-24)
Tanko was a key contributor for the Huskers in her freshman season. She was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Oct. 25 after a stellar performance against South Dakota State (Oct. 20) when she won two individual titles and helped two relay teams to first-place finishes.

Tanko excelled in the 100 butterfly, hitting her first NCAA B Standard at the Hawkeye Invite. She touched the wall in 53.26 to finish runner-up in the event.

Tanko went on to set a new career-best and broke the school record at the Big Ten Championships with a 10th-place finish and a time of 53.16. She added a pair of top-10 finishes in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle at the Hawkeye Invite with final times of 23.43 and 51.29. Tanko earned 14 top-three finishes and six titles on the season, while contributing to 10 winning relays, including four against Rutgers (Feb. 2-3). She helped three relay teams at the Big Ten Championships move to second and third all-time for NU.

Before Nebraska
Tanko comes to Nebraska from Budapest, Hungary, where she grabbed a pair of first-place finishes with the Hungarian Age Group Relay Team at the 2022 Gymnasiade. In 2021, she won a silver medal in the 100 butterfly at the Hungarian Age Group Nationals. She’s had multiple appearances in the 50 fly, 100 fly, 50 free and 100 free at the Hungarian Nationals B-Finals and was a part of the 2019 bronze medal 4x100 freestyle relay team at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
