Forty-One NU Track Athletes Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team

Lincoln ? Forty-one Nebraska track and field athletes were named to the men’s and women’s academic All-Big 12 first and second teams by the conference office this week.

The Big 12 Conference recognized 257 student-athletes who were named to the academic all-league track and field teams. To qualify, student athletes must maintain a 3.00 or higher grade-point average either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team’s scheduled contests. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade-point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 average.

The Nebraska men were represented by 17 athletes on the first team, while seven men were selected to the second team. The members of the first team include: Colin Damas (business administration), Eric Eshbach (art), Kyle Goerl (psychology), Danny Hill (finance), Adam Patrick (social sciences), Chris Richardson (theatre), Jesse Colburn (finance), Eric Rasmussen (social sciences), Danny Tylka (biosciences), Paul Wilson (English), Aaron Plas (business education), Tim Williams (exercise science), Adam Evans (general studies), Lee Martin (business administration), Nate Probasco (history), Marcus Sedberry (business administration) and Corlan Vonderschmidt (general studies).

The men’s second team includes: Carl Myerscough (art), Artur Wszelaki (geography), Kyle Doperalski (broadcasting), Patrick Southern (mathematics), Tommy Donlin (mechanical engineering), Nic Petersen (mechanical engineering) and Eric Dall (social sciences).

The women’s team placed 15 student-athletes on the first team and two on the second team. The first-team members included: Leann Boerema (special education), Tia DeSoto (anthropology), Ann Gaffigan (computer science), Kathryn Handrup (elementary education), Ineta Radevica (economics), Na’Tassia Vice (broadcasting), Christi Lehman (nursing), Anne Shadle (exercise science), Kayte Tranel (natural science), Sara Jane Baker (general studies), Ashlee Dickinson (anthropology), Michaela Lenihan (speech-language pathology), Ashley Selig (pre-nursing), Jamie Senkbile (community and health education) and Kim Pancoast (general studies).

Priscilla Lopes (general studies) and Jennifer Steiner (natural sciences) were named to the second team.

The Nebraska track and field team will compete in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships April 29 through May 1 in Norman, Okla.
