2003 (O): Decathlon, 7,236w (5th)

 

2003: Chris Richardson made outstanding improvements during the outdoor season, after redshirting indoors... improved his personal record in the decathlon by nearly 800 points, with a wind-aided score of 7,236 for a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships... his conference mark was good for an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark, but just missed the final cut for the national meet... set career-best marks in the 400 meters (49.68), 110-meter hurdles (15.17), the shot put (39-5) and the pole vault (14-5 1/4) in the Big 12 decathlon... threw the discus 120-7 at the Nebraska Wesleyan Twilight and the javelin 174-5 at the Kansas Relays Decathlon... ran a personal-best time of 4:29.37 in the 1,500 meters at the Kansas Relays. 2002: Best outdoor performance of the season came at the Big 12 decathlon where he finished ninth with a score of 6,472... best heptathlon finish in the indoor season was at the Wildcat Invitational, where he scored 4,427 points... set a personal-best long jump at 22-2 1/2 at the Kip Janvrin Pentathlon. 2001: Posted a season-best 6,239 points in the decathlon at the Northwest Twilight Decathlon... scored a personal-best 4,599 points in the heptathlon at the Northern Iowa Heptathlon. 2000: Posted a personal-best mark of 8.65 in the 60-meter hurdles at the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska Open... redshirted during the outdoor season to learn and improve in decathlon events. High School: 1999 Colorado Class 5A state champion in the long jump (23-5) and was the runner-up in the high jump (6-7)... was third in the high jump (6-6) and fourth in the long jump (21-9 1/2) at the 1998 Class 5A state meet... also high jumped in Class 5A as a freshman and sophomore, but did not score.  Personal: High school coach was Craig Hagan... major is film and new media... parents are Donn and Carolyn Richardson... born Nov. 25, 1980.
