2005: Priscilla Lopes (pronounced LOPES) put together a second straight outstanding year to help push the Husker women to a pair of Big 12 team titles... competed at the 2005 World Championships for Canada in the 100-meter hurdles and reached the semifinals... just missed advancing to the finals with the semifinals’ 10th-fastest mark of 12.91... qualified for the World Championships by finishing runner-up at the Canadian Championships (13.01w)... earned runner-up honors in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a season-best 7.99, while finishing eighth in the 60-meter dash in 7.38... also claimed silver in the 100-meter hurdles (12.82) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second straight year... earned her first two individual Big 12 indoor titles in the 60 dash (7.23) and hurdles (8.00)... broke former Husker great Merlene Ottey’s 24-year old record of 7.24 in the 60 dash, one of NU’s oldest women’s indoor records... claimed her first Big 12 outdoor crown in the 100-meter hurdles in 12.85, while finishing seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.72)... entered the NCAA indoor meet undefeated in collegiate races of the 60 dash and hurdles... swept both races at the adidas Classic and Husker Invite... named Most Valuable Performer at the Husker Invite... also won gold in the hurdles at the Tyson Invite... qualified for the national outdoor meet with a John Jacobs track-record time of 12.94 in the 100 hurdles at the NCAA Midwest Regional... also won gold at the Penn Relays in 12.97 and Nebraska Invitational in 13.52... opened the outdoor season with a runner-up finish at the Texas Relays (12.89)... ran anchor legs of second-place 4x100-meter relays at the Kansas Relays (46.49) and Nebraska Invitational (45.50), while the team took sixth place at the Big 12 outdoor meet (45.18)... currently ranked 26th in the IAAF world rankings in the 100-meter hurdles.
2004: Lopes won a national title in her first try at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships, clocking a school-record time of 7.96 in the 60-meter hurdles... won silver in the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA outdoor meet in a school-record 12.64... finished 20th overall in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, in a time of 13.08... qualified for the Games by taking third at the Canadian Olympic Trials (13.05)... finished second in the Big 12 Championships 100-meter hurdles in 13.17... broke the 13-second mark for the first time in her career in the hurdles in the preliminaries of the NCAA Midwest Regional with a time of 12.91... won the regional with a stellar time of 12.77w pushed by a 5.1 tailwind... won silver in the invitational 100-meter hurdles at the Drake Relays (13.58)...won the 100-meter dash (11.73) and the 100-meter hurdles (13.49) at the Nebraska Quadrangular... won the 100-meter dash to open the outdoor season with a time of 11.63 at the Jim Click Shootout... reset the NU school record in the 60-meter hurdles on five occasions during the indoor season... ran 8.04 in the semifinals of the Big 12 Indoor Championships... won bronze in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.15 and in the 60-meter dash in 7.28 at the indoor conference championships... set her first Nebraska school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.19 in the semifinals of the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, then rewrote it again in the finals with an 8.15 clocking... set the record at 8.13 the following week in the adidas Classic, before dropping it all the way to 8.04 in the conference meet... opened the season with wins in both events at the Panther Open... in the Holiday Inn Invitational won the 200 meters (24.06) and the hurdles (8.21)... won bronze in the 200 meters in 23.98 in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational... won the 60-meter dash in 7.36 in the adidas Classic.
2003: Lopes ran unattached during the 2003 season, but set personal bests in every event both indoors and outdoors... ran then-lifetime-best times in both the 60-meter dash (7.33p) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.08) at the Cyclone NCAA Qualifier indoor meet in Ames, Iowa... mark of 24.30 at the Holiday Inn Invitational was her season-best performance in the 200 meters indoors... outdoors finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.44) and third in the 100-meter hurdles at the Canadian Championships in Victoria, B.C.... time of 13.12 in the prelims of hurdles and mark of 11.44 in the 100-meter finals at the Canadian Championships surpassed her previous personal bests.
High School: Lopes had an outstanding prep career at Father Leo J. Austen High School leading her team to the 2000 OFSAA Senior Team championship with dual wins in the 100-meter dash (11.87) and 100-meter hurdles (13.63w)... also won 1998 OFSAA Junior 100-meter title (12.10)... 2000 Canadian Junior 100-meter hurdle champion and runner-up in the 100-meter dash... 2000 Canadian Senior/Canadian Olympics Trials sixth-place finisher in the 100 hurdles... represented Canada at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile, in the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles, but did not make the finals in either event... ran 13.78 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish second in the 2000 USA vs. Canada Junior Dual Meet... won 2000 National Scholastic Indoor 60-meter hurdles in meet record 8.29... prep best in the 60-meter hurdles (8.21) was recorded at the 2002 Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
