Indianola, Iowa — No. 3 Nebraska defeated Simpson and Greenville on Saturday, March 7, in Indianola, Iowa. The Huskers won with a score of 319.00. Simpson finished second with 300.00, while Greenville placed third with 295.70.
Nebraska had four event title winners: Chase Mondi on floor exercise, Nik Tarca on pommel horse, Alex Nitache on parallel bars and Anthony Koppie on high bar.
The Huskers opened the meet on rings. Koppie got Nebraska started with a 13.05. Sam Rakita followed with a career-high 13.25. Jack Critz recorded a 12.60 after sticking his landing. Luke James then made his career debut on rings and posted a 12.70.
Nebraska recorded an event score of 51.60 in the opening rotation and was tied with Simpson. Greenville sat in third with 47.65.
The Huskers moved to floor exercise in the second rotation, led off by Ethan Cox, who recorded a career-high 13.55 with a stuck landing. Rakita followed with a 13.35. Mondi posted a 13.65, and James finished the rotation with a 13.30. Nebraska recorded an event score of 53.85.
Nebraska held the lead with a team score of 105.450, followed by Simpson with 100.750 and Greenville with 93.40.
The Huskers moved to pommel horse next. Wyatt Reynolds led off with a 13.35. Cox followed with a 12.30. Caden Clinton posted a 13.30, and Tarca anchored the rotation with a 13.45. Nebraska finished the event with a score of 52.40.
Halfway through the competition, Nebraska remained in first place with a 157.850. Simpson followed with 150.700 and Greenville with 143.800.
Nebraska continued onto high bar in the fourth rotation. Koppie opened with a stuck landing and a career-high 13.40. Grant Bowers then made his career debut on high bar and recorded a 12.55. Nitache followed with a stuck landing and a 13.40. Tarca closed the rotation with a 13.05 as Nebraska posted a 52.70 on the event.
The standings remained the same after four rotations, with Nebraska leading at 210.550. Simpson followed with 206.150, and Greenville had 194.700.
The Huskers moved to vault, where they are ranked third in the country. Ty Roderiques led off with a 14.20. Mondi followed with a 14.25. Nitache posted a 14.10, and James anchored with a 14.00. Nebraska finished with a team score of 56.55 on the event.
The Huskers carried the lead into the final rotation with a 267.100. Simpson followed with 253.050, and Greenville had 241.750.
Nebraska ended the meet on parallel bars. Clinton opened with a 12.90. Bowers followed with a career-high 12.95. Critz posted a 12.55, and Nitache closed the meet with a stuck landing and a 13.50. Nebraska finished the event with a score of 51.90.
