Former Husker great Julia Bond joined the Nebraska bowling coaching staff as an assistant coach in September of 2021. Bond recently served as an assistant coach at Judson University.
Bond, a four-time All-American as a collegian, returned to her alma mater after winning a pair of events on the Professional Women's Bowling Association in 2021, highlighted by United States Bowling Congress Queens in May. She has also been a member of Team USA since 2017. Before turning professional, she won the 2017 U.S. Amateur and was the runner-up the following year.
As a Husker, Bond enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in program history. She finished her career third in career average (210.092), won six events and posted 21 top-five finishes. In 2015, she was named the Most Outstanding Bowler at the NCAA Championships, helping the Huskers to an NCAA title. She was a two-time NCAA All-Tournament selection, helping the Huskers to a national title and two NCAA runner-up finishes.
Bond, who graduated from Nebraska in 2019 with a degree in forensic science, also shined in the classroom. She was a two-time NTCA Scholastic All-American (2015-16) and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2016-17-18). She was a nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
