Huskers Back in Action for First Tournament of 2026
The fourth-ranked Nebraska bowling team returns from winter break this week to get back on the road for the Northeast Classic hosted by 11th-ranked Sacred Heart in New Castle, Del. from Jan. 16-18.
The Big Red join a field of 35 other teams, their largest tournament yet, with 19 of the NTCA top 25 in attendance, including first-ranked Jacksonville State, second-ranked Vanderbilt and third-ranked Arkansas State.
The Huskers ended the fall portion of the schedule with an overall 36-16 record which included a tournament victory to open the season at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic. However, Nebraska fell from being ranked second in the NTCA preseason poll to fourth in the December poll after 8-5 and 7-6 performances to end November.
Now, with Jillian Martin and assistant coach Julia Bond rejoining the team after representing Team USA in Hong Kong, the Big Red are hoping to start the new year off right with a tournament victory.
The Huskers will begin competition on Jan. 16 with five matches of five game baker format, followed by five traditional matches on Jan 17, after which they will begin bracket play on Jan. 18 with seeding determined by total pinfall from the first two days.
