Five Huskers To Represent Team USA in 2026

Written byEvan Boldt

Las Vegas, Nev. - Five current and former Huskers alike have been named to Team USA after qualifying at the USBC Team USA trials at the Gold Coast Bowling Center in Las Vegas.

Jillian Martin, current assistant coach Julia Bond and former Husker Shannon Pluhowsky all retained their spots on the professional roster of Team USA, while freshman Abigail Starkey and sophomore Haley Swindle qualified for spots on the Junior Team USA roster - the first appearance on a Team USA roster for Swindle.

The National Selection Committee selected six women total to be a part of Team USA in 2026 based off of submitted resumes, with Martin, Bond and Pluhowsky all making the cut.

Over five days of competition, Pluhowsky (6349) and Starkey (6374) would lead the contingent of Huskers in pinfall, placing tenth and eleventh in total pinfall in the women's division, respectively. Bond would tally 6193 while Swindle would knock 6117. Martin, who did not participate in day five's events, would finish with a 5130 pinfall.

The four current Huskers will return to the team in preparation for the first tournament of 2026, when they travel to New Castle, Del. to participate in the Northeast Classic hosted by eleventh-ranked Sacred Heart from Jan. 16-18.
