Huskers Invite Fans to Second Intrasquad Meet

Lincoln -- The Nebraska women's gymnastics team continues preparations for the 2011 season with an intrasquad meet on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. The intrasquad will be held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and is open free of charge to the public.

The Huskers will perform routines on every event, beginning in Olympic order with vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Nebraska returns nine letterwinners, including All-Americans Lora Evenstad, Janelle Giblin, Kassandra Nathe and Brittany Skinner. NU boasts the reigning Big 12 vault champions Erin Davis and Maddie Steinauer in addition to the 2010 NCAA Lexington Regional bars champion Brittnee Habbib. The Huskers will also see solid contributions from returners Maria Scaffidi, Kristin Fyffe and Hannah Bower. Transfer Kaitlin Reid and freshmen Deanna Barmore, Jamie Schleppenbach and Emily Wong will also make their Husker debuts.

Nebraska, which debuted at No. 10 in the preseason rankings, opens the 2011 season on Jan. 7 at Florida. The Huskers then open their home schedule against Utah on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in working to capture their 20th conference title and make their 28th consecutive postseason appearance at the NCAA Championships in April.
