Huskers Gear Up for First Intrasquad

Lincoln-- The Nebraska women's gymnastics team continues preparations for the 2011 season with an intrasquad meet on Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. The intrasquad will be held at Mabel Lee Hall and is open and free of charge to the public.

The Huskers will also host another intrasquad on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. They will perform routines on every event in Olympic order, beginning with vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Nebraska returns nine letterwinners, including All-Americans Lora Evenstad, Janelle Giblin, Kassandra Nathe and Brittany Skinner. NU boasts the reigning Big 12 vault champions Erin Davis and Maddie Steinauer in addition to the 2010 NCAA Lexington Regional bars champion Brittnee Habbib. The Huskers will also see solid contributions from returners Maria Scaffidi, Kristin Fyffe and Hannah Bower. Transfer Kaitlin Reid and freshmen Deanna Barmore, Jamie Schleppenbach and Emily Wong will also make their Husker debuts.

Nebraska opens the 2011 season on Jan. 7 at Florida. The Huskers then open their home schedule against Utah on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m and will look to capture their 20th conference title and make their 28th consecutive postseason appearance at the NCAA Championships in April.
