Katie Malone is in her second season as a graduate manager for the Nebraska softball team, and she assists the coaches in a variety of ways at practice and on game days.
Malone attended Wichita State and was the Shockers’ starting pitcher from 2014 to 2017. She was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick, earning second-team honors as a sophomore and first-team accolades as a senior.
In her four years at WSU, Malone recorded a school-record 171 appearances and ended her career with 76 wins, which ranks second in school history. She also finished her career with 482 strikeouts which ranked fourth in WSU history. Additionally, her 26 wins as a senior set a single-season record for WSU.
Malone earned academic all-conference honors in each of her four seasons as a Shocker. She was also part of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Malone graduated from Wichita State in May 2017, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Originally from Crete, Neb., Malone graduated from Crete High School where she was a Class B All-State and Super-State selection in softball. Malone played for the Nebraska Nemesis Gold Club team that won the 2011 USSSA 16-under National Championship and the 2012 ASA and USSAA State Championships.
