2004: Season Outlook
After a successful freshman campaign, a more experienced Summer Tobias should enjoy greater success in 2004.
A perfect complement to senior Peaches James, Tobias is a finesse pitcher with incredible poise in the circle, according to Coach Rhonda Revelle. Tobias is able to pitch anywhere in the zone with exact precision, which she displayed in 2003, going 15-4 with a 1.51 ERA.
2003: Freshman Season
Tobias completed the season with a 15-4 record and a 1.51 ERA ... allowed just 20 extra-base hits in 513 at-bats ... picked up wins against four ranked teams, including No. 25 Massachusetts (Feb. 8), No. 4 Oklahoma (March 20), No. 5 Texas (March 30) and No. 20 Texas A&M (May 3) at the Big 12 Tournament ... held Oklahoma scoreless on seven hits in Nebraska's 8-0 victory in the second game of the March 20 doubleheader ... produced a no-hitter against Missouri-Kansas City March 18 ... recorded a career-best seven strikeouts in five innings against Wichita State March 24, then bettered the mark with 10 against Texas Tech April 13 ... tossed a season-high nine innings against No. 20 South Carolina Feb. 16 ... ranked sixth in the conference with a 1.21 ERA in league games and seventh with a 1.51 ERA overall ... produced a 6-2 record with a 1.29 ERA in March ... was 5-0 in February with a 1.37 ERA.

Tobias was the most decorated athlete in Chaparral High School history, as she was the school’s first four-year letterwinner in a single sport and the school’s first California Interscholastic Federation award winner ... earned numerous awards playing for Coach Dan Torres at Chaparral and was a four-time All-CIF honoree, a four-time All-Riverside County pick, and a four-time conference MVP (twice with the Skyline Conference and twice with the Southwestern Conference) ... as a senior in 2002, was selected to the Los Angeles Times All-Southern California First Team and was The Californian All-Valley Player of the Year ... broke 30 career high school records and 16 career league records, including wins (60), strikeouts (768), shutouts (42), ERA (0.69) and no-hitters (12, including two perfect games) ... also set the Chaparral single-game record with 18 strikeouts ... competed for the California Cruisers ASA 18 Gold team, finishing the 2001-02 season with a 25-2 record and a 0.29 ERA ... tossed six no-hitters and two perfect games to lead the Crusiers to a third-place finish at the 2002 ASA Gold Nationals ... competed on the Cruisers’ Canada Cup consolation championship team ... graduated with scholastic honors and was a four-time Puma scholar ... also played and lettered in basketball and started as a sophomore.
