Season Outlook [2007]
After seeing limited playing time while adjusting to the Division I level as a freshman in 2006, Kimberly Fuller is poised to possibly see significant time as a sophomore in 2007. A natural middle infielder, Fuller is expected to compete for the starting job at second base despite appearing in just eight career games.
In addition to competing for a starting job at second, Fuller is also a candidate to back up Devin Porter at shortstop, and she could also earn a spot in the lineup as the designated player. The first Hawaii native in program history, Fuller could also see action as a pinch-hitter, a role she is familiar with from her freshman season.
Fuller recorded two hits in 11 at bats in 2006, and also showed a good eye at the plate, finishing with three walks to post a solid .357 on-base percentage. She also produced a pair of RBIs and scored two runs, while earning a pair of starts, including one at short.
Defensively, Fuller is a solid choice at second base. She boasts good footwork, a strong arm and good range as a converted shortstop.
Fuller’s emergence could be a huge asset for Nebraska, as the Huskers are trying to replace three-time first-team All-Big 12 selection Jessica Yoachim at second base.
