Season Outlook [2007]

Jaime Borg is poised to make the biggest contributions of her career in 2007, as she moves to the outfield, where she will contend for playing time, in addition to competing for time as the designated player.

Borg entered the program as a pitcher, but was quickly converted to an outfielder before her freshman season. Depth concerns in the circle forced Borg to return to pitching for her sophomore and junior years, but she heads to the outfield for her final season.

A hard-worker with a team-first attitude, Borg has been eager to fill whatever role is needed and has contributed to the Huskers’ success in a variety of ways. In 2006, Borg was one of Nebraska’s top pinch-runners and was also utilized as a pinch-hitter, where she recorded the first hit of her career.

Borg owns a career 3-0 record in the circle, but the Lincoln native has worked hard to improve her offensive game and will be counted on at the plate and on the basepaths in 2007.

Junior Season [2006]
Borg contributed to the team’s success in a variety of ways in 2006, including as a designated player, pinch hitter, pinch runner and relief pitcher ... made two appearances in the circle, tossing three innings and allowing two runs on three hits ... offensively, made one start as the designated player and 25 appearances overall ... enjoyed a career inning against 19th-ranked Baylor on April 14 ... pitched a perfect top of the seventh, then recorded her first career hit, a double, in the bottom of the frame ... her hit ignited a two-run rally that avoided what would have been NU’s third shutout of the season ... also drew two walks and stole three bases in three attempts ... scored her first run of the season against Illinois and finished the season with a career-high 10 runs scored, nine more than her two-year career total entering the year ... posted a .429 on-base percentage and .400 slugging percentage, while hitting .200.

Sophomore Season [2005]
Borg returned to the circle in 2005 after playing outfield in 2004 ... was 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA ... opponents hit just .188 against her and struck out 18 times in 24.2 innings ... won her last outing, throwing a career-high six innings against Northern Colorado on April 21 ... allowed only one earned run on three hits against the Bears ... picked up her first career victory against Texas Southern on March 4, allowing four runs (two earned) in 4.1 innings ... made her first career appearance in the circle against Women’s College World Series qualifier Tennessee in the Huskers’ season opener on Feb. 12 ... pitched one inning, allowing just one hit and striking out one ... made her first Big 12 appearance against Texas A&M on March 25, pitching a perfect inning ... struck out a career-high five against Missouri-Kansas City ... also picked up her second career victory, allowing just one run in four innings against UMKC ... pitched 2.1 innings of hitless relief at the Kia Klassic March 16-20 ... started the Huskers’ April 17 game with Texas Tech at the designated player position, finishing 0-for-3.

Freshman Season [2004]
Borg saw limited action in her freshman season while making the adjustment from pitching to the outfield ... primarily used as a pinch runner ... one of five Nebraskans on the roster ... appeared in five games and scored one run ... in her only plate appearance of the season, Borg was hit by a pitch.

High School
Borg graduated from Waverly High School in 2003 ... a multi-sport athlete, she earned four letters in softball, one in track, and three in basketball and tennis ... earned All-EMC Conference honors in softball her last three years of high school and honorable mention her freshman year ... earned EMC Academic All-Conference and academic all-state honors her junior and senior years in softball, basketball and tennis ... earned honorable-mention all-state honors as a junior and first-team Class B all-state honors her senior year ... was a Waverly honor roll student all four years ... received three academic letters ... president of National Honor Society ... volunteered in several community activities and was a DARE role model ... Borg’s father and uncle, Randy and Tim Borg, respectively, both played football at NU ... Randy was on the national championship teams in 1970 and 1971 ... Tim played from 1973 to 1975.

Coach Revelle on Borg
"Jaime has been a true leader on this team. She has set the tone in the weight room, in the classroom and has been an integral part of the senior class rallying the team together as it marches toward our team goals. Borgie is Husker to the core, and we are blessed to have her in a leadership role for our 2007 campaign."
