Season Outlook [2007]
Tabbed as the Huskers’ Most Improved Player in each of the last two seasons, Devin Porter has developed into one of the top shortstops in the Big 12 Conference.
Her numbers show solid improvement through each of her first three seasons and with another year of experience and offseason training, Porter has the potential to produce an outstanding senior season in 2007.
Offensively, Porter is a candidate to fill the leadoff role in the Husker order. A solid contact hitter, Porter has the ability to hit for power as she ranked second on the team last year with eight home runs. Porter also struck out the fewest times of the regular starters in 2006 and finished with 16 strikeouts and 16 walks, another ideal statistic for a leadoff hitter.
Defensively, Porter has decreased her errors and increased her fielding percentage each season at Nebraska. A strong-armed shortstop, Porter has also worked hard to increase her range to allow her to cover more ground.
Porter’s contributions will not be limited to at bats, put outs or assists. As the most experienced returning player, Porter is a battle-tested veteran who will be expected to provide leadership and support to a talented, but inexperienced, group of underclassmen.

Coach Revelle on Porter
"Devin has dramatically improved each year in this program and look for her senior year to be more of the same. This senior is confident and self-assured and willing to put the team on her back and lead the way on the field. Look for Devin to be an offensive and defensive weapon for this team."
