Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (Fall)

Season Outlook [2007]

Carmen Kier (pronounced KEER) set career highs in nearly every statistical category in 2006 and looks to build off her solid junior season with a breakout senior campaign.

Kier is slated to be the Huskers’ starting third baseman, where she started all 56 games of 2006 after splitting time at third and as the designated player in 2004 and 2005.

A full two seasons removed from a pair of knee surgeries, Kier will fill key roles for the Huskers both offensively and defensively. In her first full season at third, Kier gained confidence as the season progressed and finished with a career-high .904 fielding percentage while handling 95 more chances than her previous career high.

Offensively, Kier uses the entire diamond and has power to all parts of the field. She belted a career-high five home runs last year, while also setting career bests in 10 offensive categories.

Kier is not only poised for her best season as a Husker, but will also be counted on to fill a leadership role on a team that features 10 underclassmen.
