Huskers Host Illinois for Senior Night

Lincoln, Neb.- No. 3 Nebraska is set to host No. 7 Illinois for senior night on March 14, at 4 p.m. at Devaney Sports Center. The meet can be streamed on Big Ten Plus. 
There will be videos played throughout the meet dedicated to the seniors, and after the awards, we will honor the seniors for all they have given to the program. In addition to the senior night celebrations, Husker Athletics will also be giving out 400 t-shirts. The doors will open at 3 p.m. 

Last Time Out
Nebraska won the tri-meet with Simpson and Greenville with a score of 319.000. Nebraska had four people win event titles. Chase Mondi won floor, Nik Tarca won pommel horse, Alex Nitache grabbed the parallel bars title and Anthony Koppie won high bar. The Huskers also had four career highs: Grant Bowers on parallel bars, Koppie on high bar, Ethan Cox on floor and Sam Rakita on rings. 

Scouting the Competition 
No. 7 Illinois fell to Ohio State in its last meet on March 7. The score was 316.200-313.900. Four Illini won event titles, and those gymnasts included Tate Costa on floor, Brandon Dang on pommel horse, Sam Phillips on high bar and Garrett Schooley on vault. Dang is ranked first in the country on floor, and Schooley is ranked first on vault. Illinois has an overall record of 2-6-1 and a Big Ten record of 0-3. They are also 0-2 at away meets.    
 
Quick Notes  
- Nebraska had four athletes receive stick bonuses in the tri-meet. Cox had one on floor, Jack Critz on rings, Koppie on high bar and Nitache received one on parallel bars and one on high bar. 
- As a team, Nebraska is ranked third on floor, fifth on pommel horse, seventh on rings, first on vault, third on parallel bars and second on high bar. 
- Senior Asher Cohen earned a spot as a Nissen-Emery finalist. This is one of the most prestigious awards in all of college gymnastics. The award is given out at the NCAA Championships, which will be held at Illinois. 
- Nebraska has not lost in a home meet all season. Their last home loss was on March 21, 2025, against Michigan.
- Nebraska will be hosting the Big Ten Championships on April 3-4 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
