The No. 3 Nebraska Cornhuskers lost to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners in a tight matchup on Feb. 28, 2026, at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla. The Sooners won with a score of 331.300-321.150
Although they lost, this was Nebraska’s highest team score of the season. Nebraska had five gymnasts get personal bests. Caden received on the pommel horse, Sam Rakita had one on floor, Anthony Koppie on vault, Asher Cohen on parallel bars and Ty Roderiques tied his personal best on vault.
NU began on pommel horse, where they were ranked fifth in the country going into this meet. Reynolds led off for the Huskers and notched a 12.50 after a small mishap towards the end of the routine. Clinton went second and received a career-high score of 14.25. Tarca followed with a 13.65. York anchored for the Huskers and had a small fall but finished up with a 12.70.
Oklahoma started on the floor exercise. After the first rotation, Oklahoma was ahead 55.60-53.10.
The teams then swapped, so Nebraska was on the floor for the second rotation. Nebraska was ranked third in the nation in this event going into this competition. Cox started the Huskers off on the floor but had a fall in his second pass; he finished up with a 12.65. Mondi followed with a 13.40. Rakita went third and helped the Huskers with a career-high of 13.45. Odden went last and notched a 13.70. Nebraska ended with an event score of 53.20 on this event.
After the first two events, Oklahoma remained in the lead with a score of 109.550-106.300.
The Big Red then moved over to the vault. Koppie went first and had a massive vault for a career-high score of 14.10. Roderiques followed with a 14.20, tying his career-high. Mondi went next and notched a 14.10. York anchored for the Huskers with a 14.20. They ended with an event score of 56.60, which is their highest team score on vault this season.
Oklahoma stayed ahead with a score of 164.350-162.900 after the third event.
The Huskers traded with Oklahoma and began the fourth rotation on rings. Koppie led off for Nebraska on rings with a fall on the dismount but ended with a score of 11.90. Odden went next and received a 12.65. Roderiques went third and tied Odden’s score with a 12.65. Cohen, who is ranked third in the nation on rings, finished up for NU with a 13.60. Nebraska had an event score of 50.85 on this apparatus.
Following the fourth event, Oklahoma led the Huskers with a score of 222.350-213.750.
Nebraska then traveled over to the high bar, where they were ranked third coming into this meet. Koppie went first and received a 13.05. Tarca went second and notched a 12.65. Nitache followed with an impressive 12.80. Odden capped off the event for the Huskers with a 13.95. NU ended the event with a score of 52.45.
Oklahoma remained in the lead with a score of 275.200-266.200.
The Cornhuskers ended the meet on parallel bars. Clinton led the way for the Huskers on their last event with a 13.35. York followed with a stuck landing and a 14.10. Nitache went third and had another stuck landing and a score of 13.60. Cohen closed out the meet for NU with a career-high of 13.90. They ended with a 54.95 on this event.
Nebraska fell short in Norman with a final score of 331.300-321.150.
The Huskers will be back in action next weekend against Simpson and Greenville on March 7, 2026, at 4 p.m. (CT) in Indianola, Iowa.
