Scarlet Reaches Third Consecutive Intrasquad Victory Over Cream

LINCOLN - The Scarlet grabbed their third consecutive victory over the Cream 386-334 in the Nebraska swimming and diving team’s annual intrasquad meet at the Devaney Natatorium on Friday afternoon.

Beatrix Tanko, a junior from Budapest, Hungary, grabbed three individual titles and was a top scorer for the Scarlet team. With her trio of wins in the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 IM, Tanko notched a total of 63 individual points. 

Husker team captain Giulia Marchi, a senior from Asola, Italy, added 43 points to the Cream’s total. In the 100 free, she grabbed a second-place finish, as well as a third-place position in the 100 IM. 

Top scorer Marissa Laurin, a sophomore from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, secured 58 points for the Scarlet team. Notably, her performances in the 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 IM helped secure Scarlet’s victory.  

A sophomore from Brookings, S.D., Jazmyn Lunn recorded a personal best in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:12.88 and an eighth-place finish. Jenna Gogel, a sophomore hailing from Bentonville, Ark., grabbed 41 points for the Scarlet team. She harnessed a third-place position in the 100 breast.

Jenna Brown and Amelia Riggott combined for a total of 72 points for the Cream while Riley Miklos and Katy Zboinski added 53 points to the Scarlet. 

Newcomer Aurora Zanin from Vittorio Veneto, Italy, led the Cream with 51 points. She harnessed a trio of fourth-place finishes with a third-place position in the 100 fly. 

True freshmen swimmers Sophie Kissuk, Alaira Hadford and Natalie Dunaway made significant contributions to the Cream team. From Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, Kissuk grabbed 43 points, leading the freshmen. She specifically excelled in the 100 backstroke, where she earned 11 points. Combined, they scored 92 points for their team. 

Virginia Consiglio, a sophomore from Genova, Italy, captured first-place in the 100 backstroke grabbing her first 14 points. Consiglio swam a leg in the Scarlet 200 medley relay, continuing her significant Husker relay efforts from the 2024-25 season. 

Grabbing the first 14 points of the meet, the Scarlet 200 medley relay team of Virginia Consiglio, Jenna Gogel, Jazmyn Lunn, and Beatrix Tanko harnessed a win over Cream. Scarlet claimed the 200 free relay win as well, securing the title for the team. 

Kelsey Clairmont, a senior from Regina, SK, Canada, won the 50 free for divers for the third consecutive year. Scarlet and Cream were evenly matched on the one-and three-meter boards with a 42-point draw. 

Abby Baxter, Jordyn Schmucker and Addy Farman grabbed 34 points for the Cream team, while Frankie Webb, Ellee Delcamp scored 23 points for the Scarlet.  

The Big Red opens its regular season on Friday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Devaney Natatorium, where it will host Omaha and South Dakota State.
