Huskers Finish Fourth at GARC Championships

Memphis, Tenn. - The Nebraska Rifle team finished in fourth place at the Great American Rifle Conference Championships today in Memphis, Tenn. After two days of action, the Huskers took fourth with a total two-day score of 4,678 behind GARC champion Kentucky, runner-up West Virginia and third-place Akron.

In air rifle action the Huskers were led by Elena Flake and Emily Cheramie, who both fired 592. Macey Way shot 591 and Maddie Korthas followed with 590, ensuring four Huskers fired at least 590. Kinga Aletto and Hana Musser fired 587 and 582, respectively, to round out the scores. The Huskers' total air rifle score was 2,365.

On day one of the GARC Championships, the Huskers shot 2,313 in smallbore yesterday, which ranked fifth overall. In the individual competition, Nebraska had two of the top three finishers. Emily Cheramie claimed the smallbore title with a finals score of 460.2. Cheramie advanced to the finals after a scoring 582 in the qualifying round. Macey Way took third overall with a total finals score of 442.1 and a qualifying score of 584. 
 
In qualifying action, Elena Flake fired 576 and Hana Musser shot 571. Kinga Aletto and Maddie Korthas followed with 565 and 564, respectively, to round out the Husker scores.

The Huskers have two weeks off before the team's final match of the season, the NCAA Championships on March 13-14.
