Fifth-Year (2021-22)
Emily Cheramie competed in the smallbore event in all 12 matches in the 2021-22 season. However, due to an injury early in the season, she was unable to compete in the air rifle for the Huskers’ first five matches until she returned to action against TCU on Nov. 13. She posted a season average of 583.7 in the smallbore and a 588 in the air rifle. Her average aggregate was a 1,170.2 in the six events she competed in. Cheramie shot a career-best mark of 591 in the smallbore against Air Force on Nov. 21, while her season high in air rifle was a 592 at Air Force on Feb. 7. She finished in the top five of the smallbore event in nine of her 12 meets, including three first-place finishes. She finished in the air rifle top five twice and the overall top five twice. Cheramie was selected as an alternate for the smallbore at the 2022 NCAA Championships, but did not compete.

Senior (2020-21)
Emily Cheramie put together one of the finest seasons in program history in 2020-21. She earned All-America awards in the smallbore (second team), air rifle (honorable mention) and the aggregate (third team), becoming the first shooter in school history to earn All-America honors in all three disciplines. Cheramie was just the fifth shooter to earn multiple All-America certificates in the same season. On the year, she paced the Huskers in smallbore (584.44), air rifle (591.44) and aggregate (1175.88) and qualified for the NCAA Finals in smallbore where she finished sixth. The Great America Rifle Conference Senior of the Year and a first-team all-conference pick in smallbore, she won three events and finished second six times in 16 regular-season events. She posted an aggregate of 1,180 or better on two occasions, including a 1,183 at Kentucky and a 1,181 at the NCAA qualifier. At Kentucky, Cheramie nearly tied her own school record in the air rifle with a 596, while her performance at the NCAA qualifier featured a career-high mark of 590 in smallbore. Cheramie also was recognize for her work in the community, where she was named one of four winners among all Husker senior student-athletes for the Heart and Soul Award and nabbed a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship team for the fourth straight year. Cheramie also earned a Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion, given to student-athletes who posted GPAs between 3.75 and 4.00 during the previous academic year.

Junior (2019-20)
Cheramie played a key role for the Huskers as a junior. Cheramie competed in all 14 matches in both smallbore and air rifle for Nebraska. She helped the Huskers to a fourth-place finish at the GARC Championships while claiming the individual smallbore title. While the Huskers didn't compete at the NCAA Championships due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Cheramie helped the team qualify for the championships for the first time since 2018. Cheramie set a career bests in smallbore with a 588 and air rifle with a school-record 597. Cheramie also earned all-GARC honors in smallbore for her efforts. Off the range, Cheramie was an Academic All-Big Ten pick, a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and earned a Nebraska Bronze Academic Medallion. In the community, Cheramie was named to the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award and earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. 

Sophomore (2018-19)
Cheramie competed in fifteen matches over the course of her sophomore season, firing team-high scores on multiple occasions. By the conclusion of the season, Cheramie had increased her career averages in both smallbore (578.13) and air rifle (585.43). In the match against Coast Guard she tied her own personal best in smallbore (585) for the fourth time. She set a new career-high mark of 593 in air rifle against Memphis.  Cheramie earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in both smallbore and combined guns at the annual GARC awards banquet. She was also counted as a leader off the range as a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. 

Freshman (2017-18)
Cheramie made an immediate impact as one of three freshmen in 2017-18. She led the team with an average smallbore score of 577.73 for the season. Cheramie was honored with a place on the second-team all-conference smallbore team at the GARC awards banquet. Cheramie also posted air rifle scores in 12 matches, averaging 582.69 over the course of the season. 

Before Nebraska
Cheramie competed for the Bluegrass Rifle Club under Head Coach Ted Carr, who is a former Kentucky Wildcat shooter. Carr has coached a number of All-Americans, including UK shooters Hanna Carr and Heather Kirby.

Cheramie was a four-time National Junior Olympic Qualifier. She also won the 4-H state championship in air rifle three times and claimed the 4-H state title twice in both precision smallbore and precision air rifle. Additionally, she was an 11-time 4-H district champion and a four-time 4-H district runner-up. 

Cheramie attended Lexington Catholic High School where she was a star in the classroom and in the community. She served as a Student Ambassador and was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Student Council. In 2017, she earned the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Academic Achievement Award and U.S. Army Reserve Spirit of Victory National Scholar-Athlete Award. Additionally, she was a member of the track and field team for three years before getting injured. She threw the shot put and discus and advanced to the KHSAA 2A State Outdoor Championships as a sophomore in the discus and the KHSAA 2A State Indoor Championships as a junior in the shot put. As a senior, she coached the boys throwing team and helped them to a second-place regional finish. 

Personal
The daughter of Hoyt and Lesley Cheramie, Emily was born Feb. 5, 1999, in Radford, Va. She has one younger brother, Eli. An English major, Emily earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May 2022. A two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten choice, she was a six-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and a five-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team member.
