Weekend Recap: Women's Basketball Was 'Lit'

It was a busy weekend for Nebraska Athletics with 13 sports competing over the weekend. Take a look back at the weekend with us via social media.

Women's Basketball earned a huge victory over No. 17 Michigan State on Sunday. Jessica Shepard scored 26 points and Natalie Romeo added 25 to power Nebraska to a 73-66 win at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Behind a career-high 35 points from Andrew White III, Nebraska posted a 70-54 win over Penn State Saturday evening.

The Huskers (14-12, 6-7 Big Ten) took control with a 39-7 surge spanning both halves, turning a four-point deficit late in the first half into 28-point lead before cruising to a 16-point win. 

Nebraska Softball won its fifth straight game to improve to 5-0 on the season, marking the ninth 5-0 start in school history and first since 2013. The Huskers opened the season in Cedar Rapids inside the UNI-Dome on the Northern Iowa campus. 

A regulation softball field was set up in the middle of the Panther indoor football field, which featured a FieldTurf surface. The Huskers also opened their 2009 season at the UNI-Dome Classic, posting a 4-0 record and outscoring their opponents, 34-4.

The No. 8 Nebraska rifle had an impressive finish to its regular season on Sunday, including a number of personal-best scores and a team victory over Navy. The Huskers defeated the Midshipmen by a score of 4,680 - 4,623.

The 14th-ranked Nebraska women’s gymnastics team was unable to over come Minnesota Saturday night in the Devaney Center. The Huskers competed as part of the Tumble and Rumble joint meet with Wrestling.

Nebraska still remains on top of the standings overall.

No. 11 Nebraska  Wrestling team (11-5, 5-4 Big Ten) won nine matches against Northwestern en route to a 39-6 win during the Tumble N Rumble event at the Devaney Center on Friday night.

Nebraska Baseball hosted their annual Fan Fest at the Hawks Championship Center. The team opens their season on Friday in Charleston, South Carolina.

Nebraska Track and Field split the squad this weekend, with a number of athletes competing in Lincoln at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. 

Reka Czuth and Sam Bransby posted top-three marks in NU indoor history in front of a crowd of 2,157 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. 

The second-ranked Nebraska bowling team wrapped up a successful tournament Sunday, finishing third at the SFA Stormin' Ladyjack Classic at Lanes Off Bellaire in Houston. 

Texas native Melanie Crawford finished fourth overall with an average of 217.8, while Briana Zabierek finished fifth with an average of 217.2. 

Freshman Haley Thiele led Nebraska with a final-round 75 to help the Husker women's golfers move up one spot to 10th in a talented 13-team field at the Peg Barnard Invitational on Sunday.

The Nebraska men’s golf team concluded the Big Ten Match Play Championship on Saturday, taking one of their two matches. NU fell short to Minnesota, but defeated Rutgers 5-1 in the ninth place match.
