The Nebraska bowling team is looking to rebound at the Music City Classic from an eighth-place finish nearly a month ago at the Holiday Collegiate Classic. The Huskers are looking for their fourth event win of the season among the field of 22, eight of which are ranked in the NTCA top ten. The event is scheduled to begin on March 18 and run through March 20. The Classic will be the final competition for the Huskers before the NCAA Championships in Detroit, Mich.
Teams traveling to the Music City Classic include: Adelphi, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Arkansas State, Central Missouri, Fairleigh Dickinson, Grambling State, Jackson State, Kutztown, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota State Mankato, Monmouth, Nebraska, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Sam Houston, Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin Whitewater.
The event will officially begin Friday, March 18 at 12:45 with 6 (four game) baker matches. The tournament resumes Saturday afternoon at 12:30 with six traditional format games. The Classic concludes Sunday morning at 8:30 with best four-of-seven baker matches. The award ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Results will be posted after each session at www.vucommodores.com .
The Huskers will follow up the Music City Classic at the NCAA tournament beginning April 14 and running through April 16.

Huskers Remain Fourth in Latest NTCA Coaches Poll
The latest NTCA Coaches poll, released Feb. 21, 2011, has the Huskers falling to fourth place after previously being ranked third in the January poll. Nebraska and Central Missouri swapped spots, with Central Missouri garnering a first-place vote. Fairleigh Dickinson holds the top spot, receiving 20 first-place votes, followed by Maryland-Eastern Shore (3). Vanderbilt made the largest jump, moving up seven spots into fifth in the poll.
Review: Holiday Collegiate Classic
The Nebraska bowling team finished eighth at the Holiday Collegiate Classic held in Bessemer, Ala., over the weekend. Danielle van der Meer was named the team's MVP thanks to her team-high average at 193.80. She was followed closely by Kristi Mickelson at 193.20.
Vanderbilt came out of the tournament victorious and Central Missouri earned runner-up honors.
Nebraska was the fifth seed heading into the final day of competition. Their first best-of-seven baker match was against Stephen F. Austin, the six-seed, who won the series, 4-3. The Huskers will now have a bit of a break before the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn., running from March 18-20.
