Huskers Defeated by Horned Frogs

The Nebraska rifle team closed out their regular season on Sunday with a 4,688-4,585 loss against TCU. The loss puts Nebraska at 3-9 and was NU's final home match this season.

"We didn't finish off the regular season as well as I would have liked, but we did see some improvements today," Head Coach Morgan Hicks said. "Today was Ryann McGough's last home match.  It was bittersweet to see her finish her four years here, but I am happy she has accomplished so much. She will be dearly missed next season."

Nebraska was led on the range by Janine Dutton, who fired a score of 564 in smallbore and a team-leading 584 in air rifle for a combined score of 1,148. Close behind was teammate Katie Kostal with a combined score of 1,146. Kostal also shot a mark of 584 in air rifle to match Dutton's for NU's top score in the discipline.

"Katie Kostal did great in air rifle today," Hicks said. "She really brought her average up."

Katelyn Woltersdorf led the Huskers in smallbore for the second consecutive match, firing a 570. Though Woltersdorf's score did not count toward the team total, her progress in the discipline was especially notable.

"I am very pleased with Katelyn," Hicks said. "She was the only person to break 570 in smallbore for our team and she did it in both matches. I look forward to seeing what she can do the rest of the season and next year."

Nebraska closes out its regular season with a 3-9 record. NU will have a week to prepare before they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. for the NCAA Qualifiers. The Huskers will take the range at 8 a.m.
