Senior (2012-13)
Janine Dutton capped her career at Nebraska with another outstanding season as a senior. A second-team All-GARC selection for air rifle and honorable mention All-GARC pick in combined shooting, Dutton earned a two smallbore titles and one air rifle title during the season. She also took home top honors in combined shooting twice during the regular season.
She was NU's top shooter in air rifle and combined shooting throughout the year. Dutton averaged a score of 1,163.7 in 14 appearances and fired a high score of 1,171 twice in 2013. She also held an average of 588.2 in air rifle, earning a season-high 592 at the Roger Withrow Open on Jan. 27.
Dutton had her finest season to date on the smallbore range, holding NU's second-highest average with a 575.4. She fired a career-best 581 two times in 2013 and broke the 580-mark four times during the season.
Junior (2011-12)
Dutton continued to be a leader for the Huskers during her junior season, garnering honorable-mention All-America honors in air rifle. She led the team in that category with her 586.08 average in 13 appearances. The native of Eagle River, Alaska captured three air rifle individual titles during the season. Dutton twice shot a season-best 593, one of which came at the season-ending GARC Championships. She earned a combined score of 1,170 at the meet, which was the seventh-highest total.
Dutton had the team's second-best combined scoring average at 1,151. She ranked fourth on the team in smallbore at 565.08 in 13 appearances. Dutton also achieved success in the classroom, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll during the spring 2012 semester.
Sophomore (2010-11)
Dutton came through with another stellar season on the range as a sophomore, holding an average of 585.71 in her 14 air rifle appearances and 566.29 in 14 smallbore appearances. She captured five individual air rifle titles and one combined title during the season. Her efforts earned her All-America honors from the National Rifle Association (NRA) at the conclusion of the season.
The highlight of Dutton's season came against TCU on Nov. 7, where she shot a personal-best 595 in air rifle and captured the individual event title. The mark was a Nebraska sophomore record and ranked second all time at NU in the air rifle.
In the classroom, Dutton earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll following the spring semester.
Freshman (2009-10)
Dutton capped an impressive freshman season with a sixth-place showing in air rifle at the NCAA Championships, which earned her second-team All-America honors in the discipline. In addition, Dutton claimed first-team All-GARC honors after shooting career highs in smallbore (579) and air rifle (593) at the GARC Championships. She finished second in the GARC overall combined standings. Dutton was also captured first-team All-GARC accolades in smallbore and in air rifle.
Dutton led the Huskers in air rifle with a 584.49 average. Her 593 high score, which she achieved twice, tied the Nebraska freshman record, set by Andrea Franzén in 2005. Dutton ranked fifth on the team in smallbore with a 567.53 average. She captured one smallbore, one air rifle and one overall combined title in her first year with the Huskers. Dutton came on strong at the end of the season, leading the Huskers in air rifle in the final three tournaments and in smallbore in the final two tournaments.
Before Nebraska
Dutton was Nebraska's first recruit from Alaska under Coach Morgan Hicks. Dutton placed second out of 162 competitors in the Junior 1 division at the 2008 National Junior Olympic 3-P Air Rifle Championships. She was a four-year member of her high school honor roll at Eagle River and was in honor society as a junior and senior.
Personal
Janine is the daughter of Scott and Sarah Dutton and has one sister, Erin. Janine was born Oct. 21, 1990 and is majoring in pre-pharmacy.
