    Senior (2011-12)
Katie Kostal (pronounced COST-ull) made six appearances in both smallbore and air rifle during her final season with the Huskers. In smallbore, she saved her best score of the season for the last meet, where she shot 569 at the GARC Championships. Kostal averaged 561.17 in smallbore. In air rifle, Kostal opened the season with her best score, 580, against Air Force. She averaged 574.33 in air rifle.

For her work in the classroom during both semesters, Kostal was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

    Junior (2010-11)
Kostal made 13 appearances in both smallbore and air rifle as a junior. She saved her best effort for late in the year, firing a personal-best 588 in air rifle at Nebraska's NCAA Qualifying match against West Virginia. Kostal's mark was good enough to qualify her as an individual for the 2011 NCAA Championships, where she posted a score of 567. Kostal was also a solid contributor in smallbore, averaging a score of 567.50 that included a high of 579 in the season-opener against Memphis.

Kostal collected several academic honors throughout the season. She picked up CRCA All-Academic honors as well as first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades. She was also named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall semester.

    Sophomore (2009-10)
Kostal started her season strong, recording a season-best 580 in smallbore against West Virginia to share the team lead on Oct. 11. The following week, Kostal recorded a career-best 587 in air rifle against NC State to capture the individual air rifle title. Her 1,156 combined total gave her the overall title, making her one of only three Huskers to earn such an honor on the year. Kostal averaged 569.64 in 14 smallbore appearances, placing her fourth on the team. Her 578.43 air rifle average ranked sixth among the Huskers. Kostal earned her first appearance on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll following the spring semester.

    Freshman (2008-09)
Kostal was Nebraska's No. 4 shooter throughout the season, but stepped up in a big way for the Big Red at the GARC Championships. She qualified for the smallbore finals with a career-best 582, which tied a Husker record for best smallbore score by a freshman. Kostal then finished third overall in the finals and was named to the smallbore first team. Overall, Kostal ended up seventh in the combined standings, which earned her second-team All-GARC honors. Kostal competed in every match for the Huskers, ending the season with a 572.85 air rifle average and 565.62 smallbore average, both of which ranked fourth on the team.

    Before Nebraska
Kostal joined the Huskers from Bay City, Mich., where she competed for Riverside Shooting Club. Kostal competed in the Junior Olympics for four years in both smallbore and air rifle. She placed second at the 3P Junior Olympics twice during her high school career. Kostal was a national honor society member at Bay City High School and a student council member.
