Five Huskers Advance at Central Regional

Tulsa, Okla.--- The Nebraska men's tennis team had one of its most successful days of its fall season on Friday at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla. All five Huskers competing in the main singles draw won on Friday to advance to the second round on Saturday. Also, two of the four doubles teams competing for NU advanced to the quarterfinals of the main doubles draw.

The Huskers were dominant in singles play as only one match was taken to a third and deciding set. Calin Paar (Neb.) and Christopher Aumueller (Neb.) both took down an opponent from the University of Iowa. Paar defeated Will Vasos (Iowa) in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 6-1, while Christopher Aumueller (Neb.) defeated Reinoud Haal (Iowa) 7-5, 6-1. David Bendheim (Neb.) beat fellow Big 12 player Blake Boswell (Okla.) 6-2, 7-6.

In doubles, Aumueller and Benedkit Lindheim (Neb.) took down Mauricio Ballivian and James McKie (Drake) in one of the most exciting matches of the day 9-8 (5) in the first round. Bendheim and Paar also advanced to the second round by beating Jeff Cote and Francisco Ortiz (Western Illinois) 8-3. 

In the second round of doubles play, both Husker teams continued their hot play. Bendheim and Paar defeated Marc Bruche and Nikita Zotov (Iowa), while Aumueller and Lindheim took down Milos Romic and Callen Fraychineaud (Bradley) in dominating fashion 8-1.
