With the win, Nebraska (43-15) advanced to Friday's 12:30 p.m. contest (televised on NETV2) against in-state rival Creighton, a 6-2 winner earlier in the day over Florida Atlantic. Lehigh (40-16-2) dropped into Thursday's 8 p.m. contest against Florida Atlantic.

Trimboli started the scoring in the bottom of the fourth, as she lined a 1-0 pitch over right field fence to give the Huskers a 2-0 lead. Jessica Yoachim, who reached on a walk with one out in the bottom of the fourth, came home on Trimboli's team-high eighth round tripper of the year.

Trisha Tannahill continued the Huskers' strong offensive inning, as she took a 1-2 pitch with one out up the middle for a single before stealing second. Following a Jamie Waldecker single on a 1-2 count, James came to the plate and helped her cause as she smacked another 1-2 pitch to the deepest part of left center for a two-run double, giving the Huskers a 4-0 lead.

Lehigh got its first hit in the top of the fifth when designated player Lauren Haney blooped a single just over the outstretched arm of Devin Porter, who was backpeddaling from shortstop. Shana Treon added an infield single with two outs in the sixth for the Mountain Hawks' only other hit against James.

The reigning national player of the week, James finished the game allowing two hits in 6.0 innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks. James improved her record to 35-7 on the season while freshman Ashley DeBuhr finished the contest with 1.0 inning of work, allowing one hit.

Nebraska padded its lead with a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Waldecker drove in Trimboli and James scored on Liz Lawhorn's single to centerfield. Trimboli finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs while James went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run. It was James' sixth multi-hit game this season and third in the past four games.
