The Nebraska men's golf team finished the Purina Classic Tuesday in 11th place. The team carded scores of 297, 295 and 299 for a total three-round score of 891 at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course in St. Louis, Mo.
Finishing the tournament in first place was Arkansas State with a total score of 857 over 54 holes. Mark McBride of Missouri and Wixson Hufstetler tied for first place in the tournament with a final three-round score of 207.
Husker sophomore Jim Troy tied for a 28th-place finish with a total score of 220. One stroke behind, and in a tie for 34th place, was junior J.J. Sullivan. Junior Justin Borzych put together rounds of 77, 72 and 75 (224), to finish the tournament in a tie for 51st. With a final score of 226, senior Blake Humbles concluded the tournament tied for 58th. Shooting a total score of 235, sophomore Andy McCabe finished in a tie for 75th place.
In other Husker action, junior Kevin Bryson finished the Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Preview in second place. Competing as an individual, along with sophomore Chris Hartwig and freshman Jonathan Aten, Bryson used scores of 77 and 74 for a total of 151. Hartwig knocked six strokes off yesterday's 83 to score a 77 in the final round and finish in a tie for 21st. Aten used a 163 to tie for 30th place.
Nebraska returns to the links on Oct. 22-23 for the Lamar Invitational in Biloxi, Miss.
