Senior (2003-04)
Chris Hartwig played in all six of Nebraska’s fall tournaments and his stroke average of 75.81 tied for the third-lowest on the team. He finished in the top 40 on three occasions in the fall, led by a tie for 29th place in the Squire Creek Invitational, the Huskers’ final fall tournament. Hartwig shot 75 or lower in seven of his 16 fall rounds, including a season-low 71 in the second round of the 49er Collegiate Classic. He enters his final spring in the Husker program with high hopes for a strong finish to his Nebraska career. Hartwig has been a part-time starter throughout his first four years in the program, but established himself as a regular in Coach Bill Spangler’s starting five last fall. Hartwig showed glimpses of his scoring potential in the fall, but Spangler will be looking for better consistency from the fifth-year senior from Lincoln in the spring.
Junior (2002-03)
Hartwig played in Nebraska’s first three tournaments of the fall campaign and competed in two spring tournaments, including the Big 12 Championships. His top finish of his junior campaign was a tie for 30th place at the North Texas Invite, when he tied his career-low round of 70 in the second round. Hartwig finished the year with a 80.0 stroke average.
Sophomore (2001-02)
In 25 rounds of play, Hartwig completed the season with a 79.12 scoring average. A round of 70 and a 223 total in the Branson Creek Invite marked season bests for Hartwig. Hartwig completed two rounds of play at the Wildcat Invitational with a 154 total, good for a tie for fifth place, the top finish of his Husker career.
Redshirt (2000-01)
Hartwig redshirted during the 2000-01 season.
Freshman (1999-00)
Hartwig cracked the Husker lineup four times during his freshman campaign. His best finish came at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational, where he finished tied for 57th with a 239 total. Harwig shot a season-best 73 in the second round of The Nelson.
Before Nebraska
Hartwig lettered in three sports at Norris High School, including golf, wrestling and football. While a member of the football team, Hartwig garnered Class B all-state honors as a kicker and safety. He finished second in the 1999 Class B state golf tournament for Coach Kent Oltman.
