Redshirt Freshman (2013-14)
Nebraska native Abbie Hunke (Hun-kee) hopes to make her first contributions on the course for the Huskers after redshirting as a freshman in 2012-13. Hunke saw her first collegiate action at Nebraska's season-opening Chip-N Club Invitational. Playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup, Hunke tied for 54th with a 248 (78-84-86).

Her 82.67 stroke average ranks seventh among the Huskers.

A high school all-stater from Snyder, Neb., Hunke used a strong work ethic to make sizable gains in her game while making the transition to collegiate golf in 2012-13.

Hunke enjoyed a solid summer of 2013, taking second in the Nebraska Women's Amateur, while adding a quarterfinal appearance in the Nebraska Women's Match Play.

"Abbie's decision to redshirt was great for her," Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. "She has a lot to learn yet about the nuances of the game, but her passion to get better is outstanding. She is a great team player with a great personality and will work hard on anything we teach her."

Redshirt (2012-13)
Hunke redshirted in her first season at Nebraska. In the classroom, she earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.

High School/Amateur
Hunke finished fourth at the Nebraska Class B State Championships in the fall of 2011. She captured the district title after also winning the East Husker Conference individual crown for the second straight year. She led a West Point-Beemer/Scribner-Snyder combined team to the East Husker title. Hunke also finished eighth at the Class C state tournament in 2010, after competing for the Scribner-Snyder boys in 2008 and 2009.

A solid all-around athlete, Hunke was a 5-5 guard on Scribner-Snyder's girls basketball team. She was a three-year letterwinner in basketball and played softball in high school.

Hunke produced a strong summer of 2012, advancing to the semifinals of the Nebraska Junior Match Play, while finishing sixth at the Nebraska Women's Amateur Stroke Play. She was also a member of the Nebraska Four State Team. Hunke was the salutatorian of her high school senior class.
