Freshman (2007-08)
Sydney Sturdevant made her first career appearance in Nebraska's lineup at the Texas A&M "Mo" Morial in March. She finished the tournament with a three-round total of 255 to close in a tie for 50th in rugged playing conditions at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.

It was Sturdevant's third top-50 finish during her redshirt freshman campaign, joining a tie for 46th (160) in the rain-shortened Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., and a tie for 49th (240) to open the season at the Chip-N Club Invitational. Sturdevant played as an individual outside of NU's lineup at both the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invite and at NU's own Chip-N Club event, posting a career-best 77 in the second round at Woodland Hills Golf Club.

Two-time South Dakota Junior Player of the Year Sydney Sturdevant hopes to battle for a spot in an experienced and talented Nebraska lineup this season. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native chose to take a redshirt season in her first year at Nebraska in 2006-07 to help smooth the transition to collegiate golf.

"Sydney is a solid player with a strong short game, but most of all she is a great competitor," Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. "South Dakota has produced some outstanding college golfers, and we feel that Sydney has a chance to continue that tradition."

In addition to her work on the course, Sturdevant is an outstanding student in the classroom. She has earned three straight spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll as a nutrition science major.

Redshirt Season (2006-07)
One of five talented newcomers to the Nebraska program in 2006-07, Sturdevant redshirted as she made the transition to NCAA Division I golf.

In the classroom, Sturdevant earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll following both the fall and spring semesters.

The summer following her first season at Nebraska, Sturdevant qualified for the USGA Public Links National Championships after winning the Sioux Falls qualifier.

High School/Amateur
Sturdevant was a two-time South Dakota State High School champion at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School. She was also the 2005 South Dakota Junior Player of the Year.

Along with earning four letters in golf, Sturdevant collected three letters in cross country. She was also a member of the honor roll as a student.

Personal
Sydney has one sister, Joey, 22, and a brother, Rory, 30. Sydney was born July 23, 1987. A nutrition science major at Nebraska, Sturdevant has earned three spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, including recognition in the fall semesters of 2006 and 2007 and the spring semester of 2007.
