Senior (2007-08)
Elli Brown solidified her place among the best golfers in Nebraska history with 11 top-25 individual finishes in 13 tournaments as a senior to push her career total to 30 top-25 finishes, including 13 career top-10 showings. She finished among the top 12 individuals at the Big 12 Championships three times in her career, including a 12th place tie as a senior. She capped her career with her top NCAA Regional finish in three trips to the NCAA Tournament with a three-round total of 223 and a tie for 22nd at the 2008 NCAA Central Regional in Austin, Texas.
A first-team All-Big 12 selection after finishing third at the Big 12 Championships as a junior, the Meridian, Idaho, native produced NU's best stroke average as a senior at 77.22. She finished among the top 20 in each of NU's fall tournaments, including three straight 11th-place finishes sandwiched between a pair of 18th-place showings.
She produced her best individual finish of the year by tying for 10th in brutal scoring conditions at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, March 17-19. Despite heavy rains and strong winds, Brown managed a 78 and 79 to finish at 157 in the rain-shortened event. She added an 11th-place showing with rounds of 75-77-74 to finish at 227 to help the Huskers to a runner-up showing at the BYU Dixie Classic April 1-2. Her effort in Utah followed on the heels of a tie for 20th with a 224 at the Mountain View Collegiate, March 29-30.
Brown tied for 14th place at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, April 19-20. Brown closed the tournament with a two-over-par 74 to finish at 232. She added a 238 to tie for 12th at the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla., April 25-27, before her tie for 22nd at the NCAA Central Regional.
Brown opened her senior season by posting the 20th top-25 finish of her career at Nebraska's Chip-N Club Invitational. She finished the 54-hole tournament with a three-round total of 230 to finish in a tie for 18th on the 6,079-yard, par-71 layout at Woodland Hills Golf Club. She added another top-20 finish by closing in a tie for 11th with a 222 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
She managed a 243 to tie for 11th in adverse playing conditions at the Bronco Invitational in Kuna, Idaho, Oct. 8-9, helping the Huskers to the tournament title. She added a tie for 11th with a 150 over two rounds at the rain-shortened Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. She closed the fall season by tying for 18th place with a 230 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C., Oct. 29-30, helping the Huskers to a runner-up finish among 20 teams in South Carolina.
A three-time academic All-Big 12 selection, Brown earned first-team honors for the second time as a senior.
Junior (2006-07)
Brown earned All-Big 12 honors as a junior after producing eight top-10 individual finishes, including a career-best tie for second with a then-career-low 216 at the Bronco Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
She added a third-place finish at the 2007 Big 12 Championships in Waco, Texas. Brown fired a 225 (77-74-74) to finish four strokes behind 2007 Big 12 champion Amanda Costner from Kansas and just one stroke back of 2006 Big 12 champ Ashley Knoll from Texas A&M. Brown’s effort helped the Huskers secure their second straight NCAA Regional appearance. Brown added NU’s top placing in a tie for 56th (233) to help the Huskers to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional in St. George, Utah.
Brown closed the regular season with a career-best tournament score of 213 to lead NU to a title at the Mountain View Collegiate. She produced rounds of 72, 71 and a career-best matching 70 in the final round.
She added a tie for fourth (231) in NU’s win at the Chip-N Club Invite, after opening the fall with a fifth-place finish (228) at the Badger Invite. She added a tie for fifth (229) at the Wildcat Invite, before closing the fall in a tie for seventh (149) at the Derby Invite. Brown tied for eighth (151) at the Red Rocks Invitational and added a tie for 16th (231) at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite, before her scintillating effort at Mountain View.
Brown led the Huskers with a 75.88 stroke average on the season, shaving nearly a stroke off her sophomore average. She also earned second-team academic All-Big 12 honors, while earning a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll during the fall and spring semesters.
Sophomore (2005-06)
Brown ranked 19th in the Big 12 with her 76.85 stroke average. She finished the season strong by tying for 79th at the NCAA Championships. Her 309 over four rounds is tied for the fifth-best score by a Husker in history at the NCAA Championships. Her 74 in the second round matched former Husker All-American Sarah Sasse (2000) for the third-best NCAA Tournament round in school history, trailing only the 72 shot by Stephanie Ruiz in the opening round and Allison Stewart’s 73 in the final round of 2006.
Brown tied for 49th at the NCAA Central Regional and produced one of her eight top-30 finishes on the year by tying for 26th at the Big 12 Championships.
After opening the fall by tying for 33rd at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, she tied for 11th (230) at the Chip-N Club Invite, before posting a season-low 223 to finish ninth at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invite. She produced a second straight top 10 finish by tying for 10th (224) at the Lady Razorback Invite, Oct. 16-18. She made it three top-10 finishes in a row by finishing in a tie for fourth (224) at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Invitational.
Her 75.20 fall stroke average led the Huskers, and she continued to shine in the first spring event by finishing third (231) to help NU to a team title at the Baja Invite. She posted three straight top 30 showings at the Mountain View Collegiate (tied 30th), Susie Maxwell Berning Classic (tied 19th) and the Big 12 Championships (tied 26th).
Brown fired a pair of season-low rounds of 71 at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational and the Mountain View Collegiate.
She also earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors, while claiming spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll during both the spring and fall semesters.
Freshman (2004-05)
A talented addition to NU's roster, Brown had one top-five finish and two more top-20 showings as a true freshman. Her 79.14 stroke average ranked third on the team and her 12th-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, Texas, April 22-24 was NU’s best at the tournament.
Brown began the season with a fifth-place finish at the Chip-N Club Invite Sept. 19-20. She followed that effort with three more top-25 finishes. She shot a career-low 70 at the Betsy Rawls Invite March 11-13 in Austin, Texas, finishing in a tie for 18th in a star-studded field that included the nation's top four golfers. She led the opening round. She continued her impressive season with a season-best 228 at the Mountain View Collegiate, March 26-27. She followed with a 12th-place effort at the Big 12 Championships to finish as NU’s top golfer 230 (74-77-79).
High School/Amateur
Brown won two Class 4A state championships under the guidance of Coach Nancy Link at Kuna High School in Meridian, Idaho. She was also the champion of the 2003 Idaho Tournament of Champions and won a pair of Idaho Golf Association Junior championships. During the summer of 2003, Brown fired a one-under par 72 to win the Dropping Junior Championship. In 2000 and 2001, Brown claimed IGA state titles in the 14-15 age division.
Personal
The daughter of Chris and Marilyn Brown, Elli was born in Boise, Idaho, on Nov. 22, 1985. Brown, a business administration major, was a three-time academic All-Big 12 pick and a six-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
