Senior (2005-06)
Stephanie Ruiz wrapped up one of the finest careers in school history by finishing in a tie for 38th at the NCAA Championships. Ruiz tied the school record with her four-round total of 301 (72-76-78-75) on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, May 23-26.

As a senior, Ruiz competed in 40 rounds with a team-leading 75.50 stroke average. Along the way, Ruiz earned second-team All-Big 12 Conference honors and finished in 13th place at the Big 12 Championships (77-71-82-230) at the Lincoln Country Club.

She added a tie for 21st at the NCAA Central Regional (78-76-74-228) in Bryan, Texas, to help the Huskers qualify for their third-ever NCAA Championships appearance.

Ruiz won her first career title with a victory at the Baja Invitational (75-73-75-223) to help the Huskers to the team championship on Feb. 13-14. She followed that performance with a second-place individual finish at the prestigious Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., Feb. 19-20. Ruiz fired rounds of 79-75-71 to finish at 219 to post her fifth top-five tournament showing of the season.

Her efforts at the Baja Invitational and the Central District Invitational helped her claim Big 12 Golfer-of-the-Month honors for February.

She opened the year with a tie for fifth at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, where she fired rounds of 69-71-75 to close at one-under-par 215. She added a tie for third (70-77-78-225) to lead the Huskers to a Chip-N Club Invitational title at Wilderness Ridge, Sept. 26-27.

She tied for second at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational with a one-under-par 215, that included the best individual round in school history with her five-under-par 67 in the second round.

Redshirt (2004-05)
Ruiz took a redshirt season in 2004-05, while working to refine her swing and develop more consistency in her game.

Junior (2003-04)
Ruiz posted three top-25 finishes, including two top-10 showings. She tied for second at the Highlands Ranch Intercollegiate, which included a season-low 72. She also tied for eighth at the Chip-N Club Invitational. In the classroom, Ruiz earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.

Sophomore (2002-03)
Ruiz posted the third-best stroke average on the team (79.28) and was NU's No. 2 finisher at the NCAA Championships by closing in a tie for 88th. Ruiz posted two top-15 finishes, including a tie for 12th at the Pat Bradley Invitational with a season-best three-round total of 229. She finished in a tie for 35th at the Big 12 Championships and tied for 72nd at the NCAA Central Regional. A strong student, Ruiz earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.

Freshman (2001-02)
Ruiz compiled an 80.15 stroke average while cracking the NU lineup in every tournament. She produced two top-five finishes with a fifth-place showing at the Sam Houston State Invitational and a tie for third at the Heather Farr Memorial, where she carded a season-best 2-under-par 70.

High School/Amateur
Despite a fractured left foot, Ruiz won the Oklahoma Class 6A (largest) state title as a senior, after finishing 10th as a junior. In 2000, Ruiz finished third at the PGA Junior Series in Norman, Okla., sixth at the AJGA Marsh Kansas City Junior Championship and eighth at an AJGA event at Oak Tree C.C. in Edmond, Okla. In 2001, Ruiz took fourth at the AJGA Marsh Kansas City Junior Championship.

Personal
The daughter of Steve and Anita Ruiz, Stephanie was born Feb. 25, 1983. She earned her bachelor's degree as a communication studies major in May of 2006.
