Senior (1997-98)
Shirin Hornecker posted three top-10 finishes as a senior for the Huskers in 1997-98. Hornecker, a native of Munich, Germany, who spent her first two seasons at Lamar University and captured the 1996 Sun Belt Conference title, closed her two-year NU career with eight top-10 tournament finishes.
She notched the best tournament finish of her Nebraska career with a second-place showing at the Colorado Invitational in the fall of 1997. She fired rounds of 75-70-75 to close with an NU career best 220. Her second-round 70 was a career collegiate best. She closed the season with a NU's third-best individual stroke average (78.70).
Hornecker started her senior season strong, leading Nebraska with a fourth-place finish (225) at the Chip-N Club Invitational. She added a tie for eighth individually at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational, before adding a second-place showing to help the Huskers to the team title at the Colorado Invite. She managed a tie for 25th at the Big 12 Fall Preview. However, Hornecker struggled during the spring campaign, posting her best finish with a tie for 44th (246) at the Big 12 Championships.
Junior (1996-97)
In her first season at Nebraska after transferring from Lamar, Hornecker helped the Huskers to their fourth straight NCAA Regional appearance. She was NU's No. 3 finisher at the regional, posting rounds of 73-79-78 to close at 230 behind Hanne Nyquist (226) and Elizabeth Bahensky (227). The Huskers finished in 14th at the 20-team regional. Hornecker's opening-round 73 at the regional matched her season-best, which she also fired in the second round of the Utah-Dixie Classic.
For the season, Hornecker notched a 79.37 stroke average, which ranked third among the Huskers trailing only Nyquist and Rachelle Tacha. Hornecker produced five top-10 individual tournament finishes on the season, including a season-best fourth-place showing (228) at the Utah-Dixie Classic, April 7-8. She opened her Nebraska career by helping the Huskers to a team tournament title with her fifth-place finish at the Lady Lion Invitational, before adding a tie for eighth at the Chip-N Club Invitational.
After tying for 20th at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational, Hornecker finished 10th (230) at the Big 12 Fall Preview, before notching a seventh-place finish at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. She tied for 23rd at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, before tying for 40th to help the Huskers to a third-place team finish at the Big 12 Championships.
Sophomore (Lamar University, 1995-96)
The 1996 Sun Belt Conference champion at Lamar University, Hornecker captured the individual league title with a three-round total of 217 (71-75-71). Her total would have matched Nebraska's then-school record. She posted Lamar's top stroke average on the season and posted Lamar's top performance in four events during the year.
Freshman (Lamar University, 1994-95)
Hornecker posted four top-10 individual tournament finishes as a freshman at Lamar, including runner-up honors at the LSU-Fairwood Invitational, where she fired rounds of 72-73-76 to finish at 221. She tied for ninth at the Memphis Intercollegiate in the fall, before adding a seventh-place showing at the Oklahoma State Invitational. She closed the year by finishing fourth at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
High School/Amateur
Following a third-place showing at the 1993 German Championships, Hornecker was selected to play on the 1994 German National Team. During the two previous years, she competed on the German Junior National Team. She was ranked No. 1 in the 1993 German Junior rankings and won the 1993 Bavarian Junior Championships. Hornecker ended 1993 ranked No. 2 among German juniors and sixth among ladies on the German national list.

The daughter of Peter Hornecker, Shirin was born Jan. 3, 1974. She was a management major at Nebraska.
