  • Tied for 27th at 1996 U.S. Women's Amateur

Senior (1996-97)
A four-year letterwinner at Nebraska, Norfolk, Neb., native Melissa Becker competed in 26 rounds as a senior and posted an 81.96 stroke average. She notched a pair of top-20 finishes as a senior, and fired a career-best 74 in the second round to help the Huskers to a tournament title at the Big 12 Fall Preview, Oct. 7-8.

She competed among Nebraska's top-five in each of the Huskers' six fall tournaments, then earned lineup spots in NU's first two spring events before giving way to Husker freshman Elizabeth Bahensky down the stretch.

Becker opened the season by finishing 15th in a weather-shortened Lady Lion Invitational to help NU to the team title, before tying for 22nd (246) at the Chip-N Club Invite. She tied for 63rd at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational, but bounced back to tie for 27th (239) at the Big 12 Fall Preview. She tied for 18th (245) at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, before tying for 31st (244) to close the fall campaign at the Diet Coke/Roadrunner Invitational.

Becker's strong fall campaign followed on the heels of a tie for 27th at the 1996 U.S. Women's Amateur.
