Senior (1991-92)
A solid performer on the course and in the classroom, Ann Guiberson capped a standout career at Nebraska as a two-time All-Big Eight selection and a three-time NGCA Scholastic All-American. Guiberson closed her Husker career by finishing fifth at the 1992 Big Eight Championships in Manhattan, Kan., to capture her second All-Big Eight award. She also joined teammate Joanne Brooks in becoming Nebraska's first three-time NGCA Scholastic All-Americans. As a sophomore in 1989, Guiberson earned the distinction of claiming Nebraska's first-ever NGCA Scholastic All-America honor.
Guiberson posted a 79.5 stroke average as a senior, competing in 29 rounds for the Huskers. She fired a season-best 75 in the second round of the Big Eight Championships, which matched a 75 she shot in the final round of the Husker Invitational. Her three-round score of 231 was good for a tie for fourth at the Husker Invite and was a season best. She posted her best tournament finish of the season with a tie for third (235) at the Hawkeye Invitational. She added top-25 showings at the Cyclone Golf Classic (tied for 11th), Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational (tied for 13th), the Women's Southern Intercollegiate (tied for 21st) and the Rainbow Wahine Invite (tied for 24th).
A solid and consistent scorer as a senior captain for Nebraska, Guiberson shot only one round above 83 during her fifth year for the Huskers.
Redshirt (1990-91)
Guiberson redshirted during her fourth year at Nebraska to fulfill a practicum requirement as a recreation management major. She spent the spring of 1991 working for the U.S. Volleyball Federation in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Junior (1989-90)
Guiberson enjoyed another strong season on the course and in the classroom for the Huskers. She posted Nebraska's second-best season stroke average with a career-best 78.9 over 32 rounds, trailing only All-America teammate Joanne Brooks' 77.5. A consistent force for the Huskers, Guiberson produced nine top-25 finishes on the season, including eight top-15 showings and five top-six finishes. She earned a season-best second-place finish at the Spartan Fall Invitational with a season-best three-round total of 228.
In the next tournament, Guiberson claimed fourth place at the Lady Buckeye Fall Classic, which included a season-best 74 in the second round. She added another fourth-place finish in NU's next tournament at the North/South Women's Collegiate Invitational. She added a fifth-place finish at the Hawkeye-Rio Rico Invitational, before tying for sixth at the Mizzou Invitational. She managed a 13th-place finish (239) at the 1990 Big Eight Championships, before closing her junior season by tying for 12th at the Women's Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga.
Guiberson produced a strong season in the classroom as well, becoming Nebraska's first two-time NGCA Scholastic All-American while adding academic All-Big Eight honors for the second straight year.
Sophomore (1988-89)
Guiberson produced her second-straight top-10 finish at the Big Eight Championships by tying for ninth (241) at the conference tournament in Ames, Iowa. She captured the only collegiate individual title of her career with a win at the 1989 Husker Classic, when she scorched Mahoney Golf Course with a career-best 226 that included a career-best 74 in the opening round. She added a pair of 76s in the final two rounds to help the Huskers capture the team title.
She posted four top-10 individual tournament finishes on the season, including a fourth-place showing at the season-opening Cyclone Golf Classic and an eighth-place finish at the Huskie Classic in DeKalb, Ill.
Guiberson finished the year with Nebraska's No. 2 individual stroke average (80.4), competing in 30 rounds.
In the classroom, Guiberson captured Nebraska's first-ever NGCA Scholastic All-America honor while also claiming the first academic-All-Big Eight award of her career.
Freshman (1987-88)
Guiberson burst onto the collegiate season by claiming All-Big Eight honors and Nebraska's team MVP award as a true freshman in 1987-88. She earned All-Big Eight honors with her eighth-place showing (245) at the conference tournament in Stillwater, Okla. Her performance in Stillwater followed a fifth-place showing with a season-best three-round score of 236 at the Husker Classic. She added a sixth-place finish that included a season-best 75 in the second round at the Minnesota-Hazeltone National Invitational.
Overall, she managed four top-10 finishes as a freshman, including a tie for ninth at the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kan.
She posted Nebraska's third-best stroke average (83.6) on the season, while playing in a team-high 31 rounds.
High School/Amateur
Guiberson captured the Nebraska state amateur title in the summer of 1991, and was a also a two-time Nebraska State Junior champion at Bellevue West High School. While her father was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, Ann captured the 1987 Maryland state championship at La Reine High School. She was also a metro and district champion in 1985 and 1986.
Personal
The daughter of Frank and Susan Guiberson, Ann was born Aug. 2, 1969, in Hawaii. A recreation management major, Guiberson joined teammate Joanne Brooks as Nebraska's first three-time NGCA Scholastic All-Americans. Guiberson was also a three-time academic All-Big Eight selection.
