Senior (1989-90)
A four-year letterwinner for the Huskers, Susan Dougherty capped a strong Husker career with her best season in 1989-90. The Scottsbluff, Neb., native joined fellow senior Dawn Noerrlinger as a team captain, and produced solid results on the course. Dougherty posted a career-best 80.53 stroke average over a career-high 32 rounds for the Huskers. She also helped lead Nebraska to three team tournament titles with wins at the Spartan Fall Invitational, the Rio Rico-Hawkeye Invitational and the Mizzou Invitational.

A model of consistency in the middle of Nebraska's lineup, Dougherty captured eight top-20 tournament finishes, including back-to-back third-place showings in NU's wins at Rio Rico and Mizzou. Her effort at Rio Rico included a career-best three-round tournament score of 227 (75-76-76), before following with back-to-back rounds of 76 at the Mizzou Invite. She capped her career with her best-ever finish at the Big Eight Championships, when she tied for 18th (242) in Lawrence, Kan.

Dougherty opened her senior season with a tie for ninth (239) at the Hawkeye Invitational. After a tie for 40th (263) at the All-College Kickoff, she bounced back to tie for 13th (241) to help the Huskers to victory at the Spartan Fall Invitational. Dougherty was even better at the Lady Buckeye Fall Classic where she tied for 11th (235), which included a career-best 74 in the second round. She finished 15th (246) at the North/South Women's Collegiate Invitational, before tying for 22nd (237) at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invite. She tied for 52nd (249) at the South Carolina Women's Invitational, before coming back strong at Rio Rico, Mizzou and the Big Eight Tournament.

Off the course, Dougherty capped a strong career by becoming the first women's golfer at Nebraska to win three academic All-Big Eight awards.

Junior (1988-89)
Dougherty continued to make impressive gains on the course for the Huskers in her third season at Nebraska. The junior played in 29 rounds and posted an 80.86 stroke average trailing only Joanne Brooks and Ann Guiberson among the Huskers. She produced seven top-25 tournament finishes on the year, including five top-15 efforts.

She helped Nebraska to a Husker Classic team title by tying for sixth (238). She opened her junior campaign by tying for ninth (163) at the Cyclone Golf Classic. She established a season best with a final-round 75 to tie for 14th (238) at the USF Summerfield Classic, before posting her top tournament score of the season with a 236 to finish 15th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. She also tied for 14th (169) in two rounds at the Huskie Classic.

After opening the season in the top 10 at Iowa State, Dougherty tied for 27th (242) at the Lady Buckeye Fall Invitational, before tying for 22nd (237) at the Lady Tar Heel. She managed a tie for 68th (249) at the Dick McGuire Invite, before tying for 34th (242) at the Utah-Dixie Classic. She also tied for 27th (82) in one round at the Lady Paladin, before closing the season by tying for 21st (249) at the Big Eight Championships in Ames, Iowa.

Off the course, Dougherty earned academic All-Big Eight honors for the second straight season.

Sophomore (1987-88)
In her first full season on the course for the Huskers, Dougherty made a major impression by finishing with Nebraska's best stroke average. Dougherty competed in 28 rounds and produced an 82.29 stroke average on the year.

Dougherty provided a consistent force near the top of NU's lineup throughout the year, finishing a season-best third at the Kansas Jayhawk Invitational. Her finish at KU was one of seven top-25 showings on the year, which included five top-15 finishes. She tied for ninth at the Husker Classic, matching her season-best tournament score of 239. Dougherty closed the Husker Classic with a season-best 76 in the final round.

She fired her first 239 of the year while tying for 11th at the Iowa Invitational early in the fall campaign. She posted her final 239 on the year at the South Alabama Gulf Shores Invitational when she tied for 25th, before finishing 22nd (258) at the Big Eight Championships in Stillwater, Okla.

Dougherty also tied for 11th (160) at the North Texas Lady Eagle Invite and took 13th at the Minnesota-Hazeltone National Invitational with a two-round score of 170. She opened the season with a 247 at the Iowa State Invitational, and matched that score with a 247 to tie for 30th at the All-College Kickoff. She also managed a tie for 46th (262) at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic.

Off the course, Dougherty captured the first academic-All-Big Eight honors of her career.

Freshman (1986-87)
Dougherty competed in two rounds as a freshman for the Huskers, managing an 83 in both the first and second round of the North Texas Lady Eagle Invitational while earning her first varsity letter for NU.

High School/Amateur
Dougherty was one of the top prep golfers in the state at Scottsbluff High School.

Personal
The daughter of Mark and Delores Dougherty, Susan was born March 7, 1967 in Scottsbluff, Neb. A business major at Nebraska, Dougherty was NU's first three-time academic All-Big Eight selection in women's golf.
