Junior (1988-89)
Carolyn Kniffin was a two-time letterwinner for the Huskers in 1986 and 1987. She competed for Nebraska in one tournament as a junior in 1988-89, managing a 256 in three rounds at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. She produced a season-best 83 in the second round at Hawaii. She did not compete for the Huskers as a fifth-year senior in 1989-90.
Redshirt (1987-88)
Kniffin redshirted to focus on her academics and did not compete in her third season at Nebraska.
Sophomore (1986-87)
In her second season at Nebraska, Kniffin competed in the Nebraska lineup at the All-College Kickoff, firing a career-best three-round total of 251, including a career-best 79 in the final round, to finish 56th individually. She also played as an individual at the Panther Invitational, finishing 24th with a three-round score of 273.
Freshman (1985-86)
Kniffin saw her most significant playing time as a true freshman for the Huskers in 1985-86, playing 10 rounds and posting an 86.70 stroke average. She managed a season-best in the first tournament of her career with a 254 to finish 29th at the Minnesota Invitational. She did not compete for NU again during the fall season, but returned to the course for the Huskers as an individual at the Iowa Invitational in the spring, producing a 256 that included a season-best 82 in the final round to tie for 25th. Kniffin added a 173 over two rounds to tie for 44th at the North Texas Lady Eagle Invite, before concluding her freshman season with a 184 in two rounds at the Kansas State Invitational.
High School/Amateur
Kniffin was the Nebraska Class A state high school champion in 1983, and she was a member of three Class A state championship teams at Lincoln Southeast High School.
Personal
The daughter of Stan and Sandra Kniffin, Carolyn was born June 26, 1967. She was a member of the Big Eight Academic Honor Roll as a political science major and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at Nebraska.
