Senior (1986-87)
A three-year letterwinner for Nebraska, Katie O'Neill capped her career by showing impressive improvements each season on the course. As a senior, the Beatrice, Neb., native competed in nine rounds for the Huskers and posted an 84.33 stroke average, more than eight strokes better than her sophomore season average.
O'Neill's senior season was highlighted by a 21st-place finish (254) at the Cyclone Golf Classic early in the fall season, before tying for 42nd with a career-best 244 at the All-College Kickoff in Oklahoma. O'Neill's performance in Oklahoma included a career-best 77 in the second round, after opening the tournament with a 79.
She capped her NU career on the course by finishing 33rd (261) at the Kansas Jayhawk Invitational.
Junior (1985-86)
O'Neill improved her season stroke average by 3.64 strokes, posting an 88.78 average over nine rounds. She fired a season-best 83 at the Alabama-Seascape Invitational, while posting a 273 at the Iowa Invitational for her only three-round tournament score of the season. O'Neill also competed for the Huskers at the Nancy Lopez Invite in Tulsa, Okla., and at the North Texas Lady Eagle.
Sophomore (1984-85)
Beatrice native Katie O'Neill saw the most extensive action of her NU career in her first season on the roster as a sophomore in 1984-85. O'Neill competed in 12 rounds for the Huskers and managed a 92.42 stroke average. She posted a season-best 83 in the second round of the Purdue Lady Boilermaker Invitational, where she added a season-best tournament score of 272.
She closed her first season on the NU roster by competing for the Huskers at the 1985 Big Eight Championships in Manhattan, Kan. O'Neill finished the tournament in a tie for 34th (275), while Nebraska tied for fifth in the team standings.
