Lisa Papes did not compete for the Huskers as a sophomore in 1984-85, after earning a varsity letter and competing at the Big Eight Championships as a freshman in 1984.
Freshman (1983-84)
Papes made an immediate impact on the Nebraska lineup as a freshman. The Lincoln native competed in 15 rounds and produced an 86.07 stroke average. She fired a career-best 249 at the Mizzou Invitational, including a career-best 79 in the opening round. She began her collegiate career at the Susie Maxwell Berning All-College Kickoff in Oklahoma with a three-round score of 259. After her performance in Missouri, Papes posted a solid 254 at the Kansas Invitational, before notching a 269 at the OU Invite.
She competed as Nebraska's fifth individual in the lineup at the Big Eight Championships in Columbia, Mo., managing a 270 to tie for 24th. Papes helped the Huskers to a runner-up team finish, as her final-round 83 counted toward NU's team score.
