Junior (2021-22)
A strong all-around athlete, Nicole Hansen made a greater impact on Nebraska’s lineup in her fourth season with the Huskers in 2021-22.

A big hitter, Hansen gained experience in all facets of the game during her four seasons at Nebraska. She came to the Huskers as a relatively inexperienced golfer after competing in track and field and representing Lake Park High School as a cheerleader.

The junior from Bloomingdale, Ill., erupted for a breakthrough performance at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational (Sept. 20-21). She matched teammate Lindsey Thiele for the tournament title in the 62-player field after firing a career-best 219 (70-77-72) over three rounds on the par-72, 6,221-yard layout at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan. Hansen's opening-round 70 was a career best and put her in position for medalist honors.

Although Hansen won without playing in Nebraska's top-five lineup, she and Thiele propelled Nebraska's four-player "B" lineup to the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational team championship, giving the Huskers their first team crown in 11 all-time trips to the tournament. Hansen also shared Big Ten Co-Golfer-of-the-Week honors with Thiele on Sept. 22.

Hansen earned the first lineup appearance of her career the following week at The Molly Collegiate in Seaside, Calif. (Sept. 27-28). Playing out of the No. 2 spot, she was Nebraska's No. 5 finisher with a three-round total of 250 (80-86-84) to tie for 77th in an 83-player field at the Bayonet Golf Club.

She made her final appearance of the 2021 fall campaign by competing as an individual at the White Sands Intercollegiate in the Bahamas (Oct. 22-24). Hansen finished 41st with a three-round total of 241 (83-75-83) on the par-72, 6,415-yard layout of the Ocean Club at Paradise Island.

Hansen closed the fall with a 78.89 stroke average over nine rounds.

She opened the spring with a lineup appearance for the Huskers at the Tulane Classic, tying for 72nd at 247 (85-78-84). Hansen did not compete at the Westbrook or Briar's Creek invitationals, before returning to the lineup in the six-count-four format of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational (April 15-16). Hansen helped the Huskers to a fifth-place team finish against a strong field by tying for 25th with a 235 (80-76-79) in tough scoring conditions on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. It was her second top-25 finish of the season.

Her performance earned her another lineup spot in the six-count-four format at the 2022 Big Ten Championship in Pittsburgh (April 22-24). Hansen closed her season with a tie for 73rd with a three-round total of 236 (81-77-78) on the par-71 layout at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. She ended the year with a 79.33 stroke average over 18 competitive rounds.

Sophomore (2020-21)
Hansen did not earn a lineup spot for the Huskers in her third season at Nebraska. The Huskers did not compete as a team during the 2020 fall collegiate season because of Big Ten restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a team, Nebraska tied for second at the Big Ten Championship and earned a bid to the 2021 NCAA Columbus Regional.

Redshirt Freshman (2019-20)
Hansen made the first tournament appearance of her college career by playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. (Feb. 23-24). Hansen finished 90th with a three-round total of 243 (83-85-75). She finished with an 81.00 stroke average over three rounds on the season.

In the classroom, Hansen earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters.

Redshirt (2018-19)
Hansen redshirted in her first season at Nebraska. Off the course, Hansen earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Before Nebraska
Hansen produced a solid career at Lake Park High School in Illinois. She was a three-time individual state qualifier for the Lancers, while also capturing a regional and sectional title. She tied for 23rd with a two-round total of 153 (76-77) at the Division 2A state championships as a senior in the fall of 2017. She was also a state qualifier as a freshman (2014) and junior (2016).

A four-year letterwinner for Coach Jeff Henrickson, Hansen was an All-DuPage Valley Conference performer and a four-time team MVP. She was also a regular competitor in Illinois Junior Golf Association events.

A talented all-around athlete, Hansen was a two-time varsity letterwinner in track and field as a freshman and sophomore, competing in the pole vault and the hurdles. She was also a two-time letterwinner as a cheerleader.

She was an outstanding performer in the classroom as a four-time academic all-conference selection who spent all eight semesters on Lake Park’s highest honor roll.

Hansen, who carried a 5.0 GPA in high school, earned a Ruth Leverton academic scholarship to attend Nebraska.
