Season Outlook [2007]
Ashley DeBuhr (pronounced duh-BORE) will anchor a talented and deep pitching staff in 2007 after earning All-Big 12 and All-Midwest region honors in each of the last two seasons.
DeBuhr has been the Huskers’ workhorse the last two years and has proven capable of handling the load. She has the ability to dominate opposing lineups, as evidenced by her 19 shutouts and 639 strikeouts in 2005 and 2006.
An All-America and Big 12 Pitcher-of-the-Year candidate, DeBuhr has improved her numbers every season at Nebraska. Her progression could be even greater in 2007, as a talented three-pitcher staff should decrease her number of innings, keeping her sharp and fresh, especially for the postseason run.
The only pitcher in school history to strike out 300 batters in consecutive seasons, DeBuhr will leave her mark on the Husker record books in her final season and will also play a pivotal role in Nebraska’s quest to win a Big 12 title and advance to the Women’s College World Series.
