1996: Senior Season
Karla Knicely was a consistent force in Nebraska's outfield, starting in 63 games in 1996...ranked fifth on the team with a .335 batting average, while leading the team in at bats with 212...had 71 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, one home run and 36 RBIs...produced a .957 fielding percentage, only making four errors...stole 12 bases on 19 attempts...ranked sixth in the Big 12 in hits per game with 1.13...ranked eighth in the Big 12 with 0.19 stolen bases per game...earned All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Tournament honors...was named to the All-Midwest Region team... captured third-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors...earned Academic All-Big 12 and CoSIDA Academic All-District VII honors.
1995: Junior Season
Started and played in all but one game...batted .258 with 12 doubles, one triple and 20 RBIs...third on the team with 194 at bats...played spectacular defense, registering just four errors in 75 attempts for a .947 fielding percentage, making numerous diving catches...ranked seventh on the team in batting average (.258), fifth in runs scored (29), sixth in hits (50), third in doubles (12) and sixth in RBIs (20)...in Big Eight conference games, hit .196 with 10 hits, three doubles and six RBIs...had 11 multiple-hit games, including two career-high three-hit outings against Southern Utah and Washington...was 3-for-4 in a 3-2 win over nationally ranked Washington, tying her career high with three RBIs...hit safely in 12 of 16 games April 10-27, including a season-high six-game hitting streak.
1994: Sophomore Season
Started all 35 games in which she appeared...split time between second base and right field before a knee injury shortened her season...hit .221 with three doubles, two triples, nine RBIs and nine stolen bases...hit .222 in four Big Eight Conference games...had five multiple-hit games...was 2-for-2 with a double, triple, three runs scored and three RBIs in a 15-5 win over Stanford.
Prior:
Transferred from San Jose State, but due to a preseason knee injury to her right knee, was forced to sit out the season...came to Nebraska with a long list of Amateur Softball Association accomplishments as a player and as a coach...during the summer, helped her ASA team to state and regional competition as a coach while rehabilitating her knee...an excellent student, she was honored as a member of the U.S. Achievement Academic All-America Team.
