2005: Season Outlook
Sheena Lawrick returns as the Huskers' starting first baseman in 2005, after starting 36 games last season. She suffered a season-ending knee injury just two games into the Big 12 portion of Nebraska's schedule.

Lawrick is expected to hit third in the Husker lineup, after excelling in the spot in 2004. In only 89 at bats before her injury last season, Lawrick collected 30 hits (.337 average), drove in 24 runs and scored 23 more.

A patient hitter, Lawrick also drew a team-high 28 walks, which ranked fourth in the Big 12 despite her injury. Her patience is evident in her .508 on-base percentage from last season.

Defensively, Lawrick is a terrific first baseman and has an uncanny ability to dig balls out of the dirt. In 259 chances last season, Lawrick committed only three errors in posting a .989 fielding percentage, best among all Husker infielders.

In preparation for her senior season, Lawrick put in plenty of work on the field. A highly motivated player, Lawrick also worked hard off the field to overcome her injury and make her senior season her best year yet, according to Coach Rhonda Revelle.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Lawrick will also benefit from playing against some of the top players in the world at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece for Team Canada.

One of three Husker team captains, Lawrick's passion for the game is contagious, and she is expected to take on an even greater leadership role in her final year as a Husker.

2004: Summer Olympics
Lawrick overcame a season-ending injury at Nebraska to make the 15-woman roster for the Canadian Olympic Softball team following the Huskers' 2004 season.

Lawrick became just the second player in school history to participate in the Olympics, joining NU Associate Head Coach Lori Sippel, who competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics for Canada.

In Athens, Greece, Lawrick saw action in three games with two starts. She did not record a hit at the Games, finishing 0-for-5 at the plate as Canada finished with a 3-4 record.

Lawrick's experience against top-level international competition should help her post her best season at Nebraska in 2005.

2004: Junior Season
Lawrick was off to a tremendous junior season before a torn ACL ended her campaign after only 36 games ... before the injury, was one of the toughest outs on the team, drawing a team-high 28 walks and posting a .596 slugging percentage and .508 on-base percentage, tops on the team ... .337 average ranked second on the team as did her four home runs ... ranked fourth in the Big 12 with 28 walks and eighth with two triples despite the injury ... was awarded the 2004 Nebraska Softball Coaches Award ... 28 walks tied for ninth place on the school single-season chart ... defensively, made only three errors in 259 chances at first base ... produced four game-winning RBIs ... was named to the Florida State All-Tournament team after going 9-for-18 (.500) with seven runs scored, four doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs in the Huskers' six games at the tournament ... hit first career grand slam against Oklahoma State on March 27.

2003: Sophomore Season
Before the 2003 season, the 5-foot-4 Lawrick had never played first base, but by the end of the year Lawrick had started 48 games at the position ... finished second on the team in 2003 in fielding percentage to outfielder Kim Ogee ... committed only three errors in 296 chances at first base for a .991 fielding percentage ... hit .250 (33-for-132) with four home runs and 17 RBIs ... had an RBI single in the top of the seventh against Pacific in the NCAA Regional Tournament ... recognized on the Big 12 All-Tournament team after hitting .333 with a home run and three RBIs in the tournament ... hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth against Missouri, breaking up a scoreless game in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament ... hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth against No. 5 Texas to acquire her first game-winning run ... added her third home run of the season four days later at Iowa State April 2 ... produced her best weekend of the season at the UNLV Classic Feb. 14-16, going 6-for-13 (.462) at the plate and drawing three walks ... had nine multiple-hit games, including a career-best three hits against Southern Mississippi Feb. 22 ... had a career-best two RBIs four times, last against Oklahoma State May 2 at the Big 12 Tournament.

2002: Freshman Season
Lawrick sat out most of the 2002 season, but was able to play during the NCAA Tournament ... contributed offensively in NU’s NCAA Regional win over Oregon State May 18, going 2-for-3 (.667) with a run and an RBI ... made two appearances at the Women’s College World Series, serving as a designated hitter against Arizona May 23 and Florida State May 25.

High School
Lawrick led Team Alberta to a silver medal in the 2001 Canada Summer Games, as she ranked first on the team with a .394 batting average and a .515 on-base percentage ... was named the top hitter while competing for Team Alberta at the 1999 Western Canada Summer Games after recording a .620 average ... also played second base for the Calgary Double Diamond Renegades (Midget A), who produced a 46-15-3 record in 2001 ... two-time all-star team selection at the Canadian Midget Championships ... led the Renegades with a .417 batting average in 2000 and a .500 average in 2001 at the championships ... led the team in virtually every statistical category during the regular season, including batting average, hits, runs scored, on-base percentage and fewest strikeouts ... also competed successfully in ringette, a Canadian female sport similar to hockey ... was the leading scorer on the 2001 and 2000 Belle AA ringette teams that captured both the Alberta Provincial and the national championships ... also participated in volleyball, badminton and basketball at the City of Calgary junior and senior high schools.
