Nebraska Looks to Soar Past Eagles in Statesboro

The No. 5 Nebraska rifle team will hit the road to take on No. 9 Georgia Southern on Sunday, November 8 in Statesboro, Ga. The match will start at 7 a.m. (CT) and results can be found here.

Going into Sunday, the Big Red is 3-4, coming off a 1-1 weekend where it fell to No. 4 Kentucky and knocked off then-No. 3 Alaska-Fairbanks. In the match against Alaska-Fairbanks, Katlyn Sullivan shot a 598, which tied her against a host of her teammates (Maddy Moyer, Grace Corbett, Alivia Perkins, also Sullivan twice before) for the highest air rifle score by a sophomore in program history. Makenzie Larson also set a new personal best in the smallbore with a 589.

“We are excited to be hitting the road this weekend" Head Coach Richard Clark said. "Over the last couple of weeks, the team has put in a lot of work reinforcing that the fundamentals will get us the numbers we are looking for come match day. If we can remain process-focused on the line this weekend, I think we will see some really great things and a very exciting match against a talented Georgia Southern team.”

Georgia Southern will head into Sunday with a 6-3 record, coming off a dominating, 4,698-4,519 win over Wofford. Dating back to the 2022-23 season, the Huskers have split the last two matches against the Eagles.

Following this weekend, Nebraska will compete in the WVU Fall Classic on November 14-15 to finish off this semester of matches.
